Following the most dramatic pre-game in professional sports, I will be providing my interpretation of the weigh-ins. This is an up-to-date look on the good, the bad and the ugly. It’s important to consider weigh-in analysis when making your UFC DFS picks, since you can gain an edge over the field in Fight Island 7 DraftKings and FanDuel MMA DFS lineups.

UFC Fight Island 7: Post Weigh-In AnalysisÂ
Holloway vs. Kattar
The Main Event is official, ladies and gentlemen. Holloway looked lean as always on the scale, and Kattar is in great shape. There were no indicators of a rough weight cut, which is a good sign. This is a tough fight to ignore for DFS lineups due to high volume and the five rounds. I’m splitting exposure here, but I think Kattar is the best value play on the slate if he can shock the world.
Condit vs. Brown
I’m a WEC guy and can’t wait to watch Condit perform on Saturday. This could be the last time we see Brown in the octagon, win or lose. There is not much to read into here, as both men are intense fighters who always bring it. It will come down to durability, and Condit should win.
Ponzinibbio vs. Jingliang
Both of these men are class acts, paying tribute to Diego Maradona. The question mark surrounding this fight is, how will Ponzinibbio look after his two-year hiatus? On the scales Ponzinibbio looked great, and so did Jingliang. This is not a tune-up fight for Ponzinibbio, but I have to side with his advantages in this fight.
Buckley vs. Di Chirico
Buckley is intense. At the staredown Buckley got right in Di Chirico’s face, and the veteran didn’t seem to be phased. Both men look to be in great shape, and it blows my mind how Buckley can make the middleweight limit.
Todorovic vs. Soriano
Soriano is the talk of weigh-ins. He looks like he’s competing in a bodybuilding competition, but of course, this does not always translate to the cage. It’s great to see a fighter taking their career seriously, but putting on a ton of muscle mass can be detrimental to the gas tank. I think Soriano is dangerous early, and as the fight progresses, that cardio could be tested. I still favor Todorovic.

Hawes vs. Imavov
I hope this fight lives up to my expectations because both men appear to be in phenomenal shape and are some of the most skilled combatants on the card. I have a feeling this will be a pivotal fight for DFS lineups. Imavov is one of the best value plays on the slate, but it’s a tough fight for both individuals. I’m siding with Hawes.
Yanan vs. Edwards
Yanan and Edwards is a short-notice bout due to Yanan’s original opponent pulling out. For a short-notice replacement, Edwards looks to be in great shape. I’m interested to see the debutant.
Felipe vs. Tafa
Our heavyweight bout of the evening is an interesting stylistic matchup. There is not much here from the weigh-ins, as both men push the heavyweight limit. I still favor Felipe.
Emeev vs. Zawada
Emeev usually has the size advantage over his opponents, but Zawada is the bigger man here. Weigh-ins confirmed my suspicion that Zawada can match the physicality of Emeev. It will come down to Zawada’s takedown defense. I’m pulling for the Zawada upset.
Moras vs. Melo
Both women need a win to keep their job in the UFC, and I’m surprised to say that they looked good on the scales. I’ve witnessed both fighters struggle to make weight in the past, and it looks like they have made professional adjustments. Melo is a nice value pick and might be in the best shape of her life.
Lingo vs. Kilburn
This is an intense fight to kick off UFC Fight Island 7, with both men looking to rebound from their debut losses. I think this is a sneaky fight to target, and the weigh-ins confirmed that. I will have exposure to both, with a slight lean to Lingo.
