MMA Betting Picks: UFC Vegas 25: Reyes vs. Prochazka

Dustin Jacoby vs. Ion Cutelaba Under 2.5 Rounds -240

This feels like a safe bet to target, especially after witnessing the weigh-ins. If you missed it, Cutelaba snatched Jacoby by the neck with a collar tie, which could lead to an emotional fight from both guys. I am targeting this fight plenty for DFS lineups, and I think there is potential for a quick finish. Cutelaba is a fighter who pushes a ridiculous pace with relentless intensity, but often makes mistakes when his cardio abandons him. Either Cutelaba implements big takedowns into heavy ground and pound, or Jacoby capitalizes on an exhausted Cutelaba and picks him apart. I think -240 is a fair line, and if you’re willing to risk more: Fight doesn’t go to decision is -325.

Dominick Reyes +105

The main event of the evening is an exciting matchup between Dominick Reyes and Jiri Prochazka. I am very intrigued with this stylistic matchup, especially since this is a massive step up in competition for Prochazka. Reyes is a former title contender and has lost back to back fights to Jon Jones and Jan Blachowicz. It’s tough to hang your head against that competition, while many believed he was victorious against Jones. Obviously, Prochazka is a legitimate knockout threat for anyone in the division, but there are many question marks surrounding him. I was impressed with Prochazka in his debut, but I don’t want recency bias to steer me away from a safe play in Reyes. If you want to be safe with this matchup, consider the under. I don’t mind backing a fighter of Reyes’ caliber, and especially as a slight underdog at +105.

Cody Stamann +210

In the most surprising pick of the night, I like Stamann over Dvalishvili. Hear me out, though. I understand that Dvalishvili is an incredible fighter within the division, and he has looked absolutely dominant in the UFC. Although, I’m wondering what happens if Dvalishvili struggles to take down Stamann, and he is forced to strike? In a striking matchup, I do favor Stamann, who can nullify some takedowns and punish Dvalishvili on the feet. In a typical matchup, Stamann has the wrestling advantage. However, we do have to wonder if he’ll need to rely on strong defense and quick scrambling abilities to walk away victorious. I think this fight is a lot closer than the odds suggest, and especially since Dvalishvili isn’t a finisher. Stamann will have plenty of competitive moments. However, this is certainly worth a shot at +210.
