Kai Kamaka | DraftKings: $9,200, FanDuel: $21
Kamaka is a wrestler and expectedly uses a wrestle-heavy game plan, which for DFS purposes can produce a high score in a decision win. That is why he is a solid core play. Kamaka does not have the finishing instinct on the canvas, but he does have smothering top control. He looked solid in his UFC debut against Tony Kelly, showing that his game is not one-dimensional. That was a three-round slugfest and won Kamaka “Fight of the Night” bonus. The UFC DFS projections have Kamaka as the third-highest fighter on the slate, with 73% win odds.
Spike Carlyle | DraftKings: $8,900, FanDuel $19
Carlyle is a fast starter who comes out looking for the finish early. However, if Carlyle can not get the early finish, his gas tank starts to empty in the latter rounds. That said, I expect Carlyle will be able to control this fight, and if the fight hits the canvas, he will be the better grappler. I expect Carlyle will bounce back and find the first-round stoppage. The UFC DFS projections give Carlyle 62% win odds, with a 45% chance for a knockout.
Mid-Priced MMA DFS Picks
Miguel Baeza | DraftKings: $8,700, FanDuel: $20
Baeza got rocked in his last fight against Matt Brown, but he recovered and finished Brown in the next round. Some people may be questioning if Baeza has a suspect chin, but he got rocked by Matt Brown, who hits extremely hard. Baeza has seven knockouts in nine MMA victories. He is averaging 4.78 significant strikes per minute and is extremely accurate with his strikes. Baeza will be tested in this fight by Takashi Sato, but I expect his accuracy and power to get the job done. Awesemo’s UFC DFS projections give Baeza 58% win odds, with a 43% chance for a knockout.
Luke Sanders | DraftKings: $8,400, FanDuel: $18
Sanders’ UFC debut was a dominant submission win over Maximo Blanco, but Sanders fell into a three-fight losing streak. All three of Sanders losses have came by stoppage, but he bounced back in his last outing with an impressive knockout victory over Renan Barao in 2019. Sanders has not fought in 21 months. In this fight, I expect Sanders to be the better striker and land something nasty in their exchanges, which will put Nathan Maness to sleep. The UFC DFS projections give Sanders 57% win odds.
Value MMA DFS Picks
Devin Clark | DraftKings: $7,700, FanDuel: $11
Clark is a superior athlete, and this will be his third fight of 2020. He is coming in on two unanimous decision victories over Dequan Townsend and Alonzo Menifield. Clark is averaging 3.40 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 2.47 significant strikes per minute. He is a solid wrestler and showed solid standup in his last fight against Menifield. In this fight, look for Clark to try and get this fight to the canvas. By doing so, he should be able to control the fight once he gets it there. The UFC DFS projections give Clark 44% win odds.
