UFC Betting Pick: Chris Daukuas To Win -180

Alexei Oleinik is actually one of my favorite fighters to watch. He’s one of the better grapplers in the history of the UFC Heavyweight division although that isn’t really saying much. Oleinik almost always has a significant advantage on the mat over his opponents and does whatever he can to bring the fight to the ground. The reality is that most opponents he faces don’t have any semblance of a ground game. This isn’t the case in this matchup since Daukuas is a black belt and also has the kind of athleticism to give Oleinik problems. At age 43, I don’t think Oleinik can keep up with the speed and movement that Dauakuas brings to the octagon.

UFC Betting Pick: Nate Landwehr To Win -115

In his last fight, Julian Erosa broke a three-fight skid with an unexpected win over Sean Woodson. Woodson closed as a nearly -600 favorite so Erosa was one of the biggest underdog winners in all of 2020. Despite the upset, I didn’t find the win super impressive for Erosa. Woodson nearly finished Erosa in the first round and then gassed out to the point that Erosa was able to submit him fairly easily in the third round.

Considering I think Erosa’s durability was a key factor in winning his last fight, it’s hard to see him doing the same in this matchup. Landwehr has great cardio and landed 118 significant strikes in his last fight against Darren Elkins. The volume on the feet could present a problem for Erosa since Landwehr isn’t likely to gas out in the same way that Woodson did. I also have questions about Erosa’s chin since he’s gotten knocked down in five of his last six UFC fights.
