F1 DFS Picks: DraftKings F1 Fantasy Racing Advice

Best F1 Fantasy & DFS Constructor Picks

Ferrari ($10,800)

No, this isn’t a copy-and-paste setup from last week, it is just simply what these F1 cars are giving us. Ferrari may be a surprise as the top-priced Constructors team this week, but it shouldn’t surprise anyone who has been watching. The combination of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have been consistently at the top of the Free Practice lap and Qualifying time this week after a 1-2 finish in Bahrain last weekend. A Charles Leclerc and Ferrari stack is how I will be starting many of my lines this week after he has continued his dominance at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit this week. While we will see a Red Bull on pole, Leclerc and Sainz are starting P2 and P3 on Sunday, which puts them in prime position for another double podium finish and a massive Constructors score.

Red Bull ($9,800)

The Red Bull combination of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez looked like a clear second place compared to the quicker Ferrari cars on Saturday. The Red Bull team was unable to finish the race in Bahrain last weekend after a car line issue which forced the car to retire with just a couple laps left. The team has stated that they figured out the issue and have come up with a fix for this weekend. While they did look like a No. 2 car, Sergio Perez was able to take pole position for the race after an incredible final lap. Many people may be worried about rostering these two after their problems last week, but I am all in on them come race day. These are the only two constructor teams I care to roster in F1 Fantasy this week as they look clear above the rest of the competition and all things considered, it should be a Ferrari/Red Bull littered podium Sunday if all cars finish the race.

Best F1 Fantasy & DFS Driver Picks

As stated earlier, the biggest news to come out of Saturday Qualifying was that Lewis Hamilton was unable to get out of Q1 and will now start in 16th on Sunday. While many fans may think that this means he will have the chance to do well moving up the grid, I am extremely worried about this car. Watching the Qualifying, Hamilton looked like he was going full out, but yet couldn’t quite find the speed with the Mercedes. While teammate George Russell was able to put up a fourth-place in Q1, ultimately finishing in sixth for Sunday’s race. Sure, Hamilton is an amazing driver, but sometimes you can only do so much with the car you have, and right now, the Mercedes he is driving doesn’t look like it has a chance at a podium unless we get drivers crashing out or having car retirements like we had in Bahrain. I can not knowingly suggest you run Hamilton or the Mercedes Constructors team at all in cash games. Yuki Tsunoda was not able to post a qualifying time after an issue with his car in Q1 which will have him starting in 20th on Sunday. Mick Schumacher had a very rough collision in Q2 on Saturday after he went hard in to a wall on his qualifying lap. Schumacher remained in the car for a lengthy period of time after the collision by the medical team. (*Schumacher will not be driving on Sunday as the HAAS team will use only one car; Kevin Magnussen)

Charles Leclerc ($11,600 DraftKings; 2nd) & Carlos Sainz ($9,800 DraftKings; 3rd)

I was fully expecting to write up that Charles Leclerc would be starting in P1 after how he was driving during the Qualifying, but surprisingly enough, Sergio Perez put up a magical lap to steal the pole position on the last lap. Unfortunately, it is impossible to roster Perez at Captain, with Leclerc, Sainz and Red Bull at the Constructors in DraftKings F1 DFS lineups this week, but those are going to make up a strong core in my lineups. I will be heavier on Leclerc at Captain than Sainz because I still believe Leclerc is driving better at this point, but both drivers are well worth their price this weekend, even with Perez on pole.

Max Verstappen ($10,800 DraftKings; 4th) & Sergio Perez ($9,200 DraftKings; 1st)

Incredibly enough, it’s Perez who sits on pole for Sunday’s race after an incredible final lap in Qualifying. This does make Verstappen more of a GPP F1 DFS picks today and Perez as more of the cash game play because of their prices compared to starting positions. This course is fast and difficult to pass, which could ultimately keep Perez out front all race if he is quick off the line Sunday. Verstappen dealt with some tire issues during qualifying, but still has a strong shot at a podium finish Sunday.

Esteban Ocon ($5,600 DraftKings; 5th) & Fernando Alonso ($6,200; 7th) The Alpine F1 duo came to play Sunday as they qualified as the third highest team being split up by the Mercedes of George Russell. Ocon has been someone I have had an eye on all week after his eighth place in FP1 and FP2, then his FP3 sixth place, leading to a fifth place in Qualifying. Ocon is my favorite mid-range play in F1 Fantasy as if he can manage to stay in 5th place, he will be far and away the best play. Alonso also looked strong in Qualifying and will be starting seventh on the grid. This is tough as they both offer upside but only one will get the five-point bonus. I prefer Ocon in cash games and GPPs, but will sprinkle Alonso in as well in GPPs on DraftKings this week.

Valterri Bottas ($7,600 DraftKings; 8th)

The former Mercedes driver is showing world-class skill as he continues to qualify strong even with a less-than-stellar car in the Alfa Romeo. Bottas finished in sixth place in Bahrain last weekend and has brought that same momentum to Saudi Arabia this weekend. I don’t love his starting position on this tough track, so he is more of a GPP play for me this weekend for DraftKings F1 Fantasy racing lineups. He put up some impressive Free Practice sessions this weekend which could foreshadow some upside from his car even if he has to make his way through a couple cars.

Daniel Ricciardo ($4,200 DraftKings; 15th)

The McLaren drivers improved on their starting grid positions this weekend after their terrible Qualifying times last weekend in Bahrain. Lando Norris and Ricciardo didn’t have great Free Practice 3 results Saturday morning but were able to put up decent lap times in the Qualifying. At this point, Ricciardo seems like the better value play as he is more than $2,000 cheaper than Norris and just one spot behind on the grid, but we have seen much better results from Norris so far this season. Ricciardo just seems way too cheap for a former racer winner whose car looked better than it did in Bahrain. (**Ricciardo was assessed a 3-spot grid penalty for obstruction during Qualifying and will now start in 15th – I still don’t mind the play considering his price tag)

Alexander Albon ($3,200 DraftKings; 16th)

If you are planning on running the Leclerc/Ferrari stack, you will need to go bargain shopping and, once again, Alexander Albon is one of my favorite cheap F1 DFS picks of the week. As it was previously discussed, the key to your value plays should be seeing if they can finish above their teammate for the five points as they won’t usually return much value anywhere else in terms of finishing points. Albon is a much better driver than his teammate Nicholas Latifi, who is starting in two spots behind in 18th place.

Lance Stroll ($3,400 DraftKings; 13th)

The Aston Martin racer finished 12th in Bahrain, 5 places in front of replacement teammate driver Nico Hulkenberg. This weekend, Stroll will start four spots in front of Hulkenberg once again Sunday in Saudi Arabia. Stroll has experience at this track finishing 11th here last year after starting in 18th. Like Albon, Stroll should be able to outrace his teammate giving him the five points.

Kevin Magnussen ($8,000 DraftKings; 10th)

Kevin Magnussen had a great race in Bahrain last Sunday finishing in fifth place, but his times in Saudi Arabia this weekend have not been as good. While that may sound like I am down on him, he might be handed a guaranteed five-point start as the HAAS F1 team may only be racing one car on Sunday. I am not in love with the price since Magnussen is new to this track and has not been overly impressive in the Free Practice sessions or Qualifying, but he did make it to Q3 and could be handed a guaranteed five starting points, which would be big. (**HAAS will be running just one car Sunday, so Magnussen is guaranteed the 5 position points against his teammate)
