Best Pennzoil 400 NASCAR DFS Tournament & GPP Picks | DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Racing

NASCAR continues it West coast swing this weekend as we head from Fontana, Calif., to the desert, in Las Vegas. Last weekend at Auto Club, we had a wild weekend full of carnage in practice, qualifying, and the race. In turn, NASCAR decided to double the amount of time allowed for practice this week and besides Kyle Busch wrecking, it was a pretty even-keeled session on Saturday. With the order being set, let’s dive into how we should approach this slate from a tournament perspective to help gain leverage on the field. We’ll be looking at the Awesemo NASCAR fantasy ownership projections and overall point projections to help make our NASCAR DFS picks today for DraftKings and FanDuel Pennzoil 400 fantasy racing lineups.

Pennzoil 400 NASCAR DFS GPP Fantasy Picks

While the starting grid isn’t as jam packed with strong drivers starting in the back of the pack this week, we still have a decent amount that didn’t qualify, or qualified poorly, and will make for some popular NASCAR picks amongst players this weekend. Don’t forget that this is the most laps we have seen in a race so far this season, so drivers that can pick up dominator points are going to be more important than ever today. Looking at previous events here at Las Vegas, typically plugging in two potential dominators has been the best fantasy NASCAR strategy.

Top Driver Picks & Projections

Ryan Blaney $10,500 (11th) — Blaney should always be on our radars when we had to the intermediate tracks, as he tends to typically have a fast car, and that was no different last week as he was able to hang out up front for the majority of the day. His only draw back was his pit crew, who let him lose a massive amount of spots on pit road each trip. If these woes continue on pit lane, it will be hard for him to stay out front if he keeps getting buried in the pack. I am willing to take chances here in GPPs, however, as he had one of the fastest cars in practice on Saturday and Team Penske is very strong at this track.

William Byron $9,800 (14th) — Byron has had two poor finishes in a row to start the 2022 season, but this can all be attributed to bad luck. He had one of the fastest cars in the field last Sunday, and he was incredibly strong in practice on Saturday this weekend. The practice speeds he showed will certainly bump his ownership up a degree, but he was only around 10% owned last weekend in a very similar spot. This is a great buy-low spot on a top-tier driver.

Mid-Range Driver Picks & Projections

Alex Bowman $8,700 (13th) — Bowman like Bryon, is in a very similar spot to where he was last weekend, but both ended up with issues that killed a potentially very solid day for both. Last Sunday showed no signs of slowing down from Hendricks and if I like all the other drivers from this team, it would be wrong to exclude Bowman. He’s the cheapest of the bunch and has top-five upside. He’s priced right in between some very chalky drivers and he’s in a great leverage spot with his starting spot being higher up in the grid.

Bowman was one of the most intriguing names that showed up in the NASCAR projections today, and he popped in the NASCAR optimizer as well. He’s one of the best NASCAR fantasy picks today. Christopher Bell $8,200 (1st) — While Bell is a very talented driver, he has a tremendously tough task to hold of Kyle Larson on the front row if he is going to dominate this race early on. Both had fast cars in practice, but the pole position can certainly work in Bell’s favor to dominate a portion of the first stage if he gets a good jump at the start. If Larson is able to get by him, Bell will be unlikely to dominate the rest of the race, making this is a risky play. The price tag is low enough for where there is some leeway if things happen to go south.

NASCAR Driver Value Picks & Projections

Daniel Hemric $5,800 (16th) — There is safer drivers down low starting deeper in the pack with higher floors, but I like the upside with Hemric as he finished inside the top 10 last week. He also showed top-10 practice speeds across the board on Saturday. His equipment is better than most of the drivers he’s priced around and Harrison Burton is the only one who has a ceiling similar to his in this price range. He also posted some strong numbers here in the Xfinity series the past couple of seasons.
