The field is set for Saturday’s race at Homestead with Austin Cindric and Daniel Hemric on the front row. Let’s jump into this week’s top NASCAR DFS picks for the Xfinity Contender Boats 250.
NASCAR Xfinity Contender Boats 250 DraftKings DFS Picks
A New Format
This week I’m unveiling a new format for the NASCAR DFS articles here at Awesemo. I’m transitioning away from the typical “play these guys in cash” breakdowns to a “quick-hit” style where I give my thoughts on several different drivers. The breakdowns are now titled “Gas-N-Go” to reflect the blurb-style nature of my thoughts. I want to give you enough information to help you make an informed decision. However, not so much information that you end up drowning in the analysis.
Drivers will be listed by starting order, DFS salary and the format I would prefer to play them. Also, if I feel strongly enough about a particular driver, I will list “core” next to their name, noting them as a building block driver for your lineups.
Hit me up on Twitter with your thoughts on this new format.
The Picks
Austin Cindric, 1st ($10,200) Cash/ GPP
With only 167 laps on tap, you will more than likely need at least one dominator. Considering who constitutes the starting top 10, it’s hard to see anyone challenging Cindric early for the lead. With the best car and best pit crew, it will be hard for anyone to wrangle the lead away from Cindric either.
This being said, Cindric carries some risk because of his underwhelming fantasy history as a pole sitter. Furthermore, neither Homestead race last season was fruitful for their respective pole sitters in terms of DraftKings points. Yet in the last 10 intermediate races in the Xfinity Series, Cindric has led at least one lap in every race, with three wins and six top-five finishes.
Jesse Little, 14th ($4,800) GPP
Although Daytona, and its road course, have no direct correlation to results at Homestead, it’s interesting to note that Little has brought home top-20 finishes in both races thus far. We can pair that consistency with what we’ve seen from Little at Homestead, 15th and 18th last season, and we have a potential top-15 finish from a driver who should be off most DFS players radars. Little’s sub-$5,000 salary makes it possible to fit in multiple high-priced place-differential drivers.

Noah Gragson, 23rd ($11,300) Cash/ GPP
Gragson not only offers place differential but actual winning upside as a true dominator. In last year’s doubleheader, despite not starting on the pole in either race, Gragson led the most laps in each race. A return to an intermediate track may just be what this No. 9 team needs to get back on track. With his salary, though, he has the toughest path to being optimal.
Tyler Reddick, 38th ($11,800) – Cash/ GPP
Reddick makes his Xfinity return to the track where he last won back-to-back races and back-t0-back championships. Starting 38th, Reddick has perhaps the safest floor and highest ceiling of any driver. He will be a safe bet to pick up 30 place differential, and with his prowess to ride the wall, he’ll pick up loads of fastest laps in the process. This all being said, we can’t expect mirrored results from those past two races to Saturday with the downgrade in equipment.
Riley Herbst, 29th ($8,700) – Cash/ GPP/ Core
During last year’s double-header at Homestead, Herbst brought home finishes of ninth and 10th. Considering that was his first exposure to Homestead in the Xfinity Series, it’s encouraging to see consistency and hopefully a foundation he builds upon Saturday. Don’t forget, it was this car, with Chase Briscoe behind the wheel, that won the Sunday race at Homestead.
Jeffrey Earnhardt, 36th ($7,500) Cash
Racing for Johnny Davis in 2020, Earnhardt finished 16th and 19th in the two Homestead races. I believe we can safely project Earnhardt for another top-20 finish, making him perfectly suited as a cash play.
J.J. Yeley, 39th ($5,700) Cash/ GPP/ Core
The case made for Cody Ware last week is the case I plead for you with Yeley. You’re getting a highly experienced veteran, starting 39th, who should pick up 15 spots if Yeley has an average day. If things fall in Yeley’s favor, perhaps that number moves up to 20 spots. If Yeley’s past numbers at Homestead, or frankly anywhere, scare you, then remember those were for the notorious start and park outfit at RSS Racing. Now he’s driving the No. #17 for Rick Ware, a car that actually competes.
