NASCAR DFS: Top NASCAR All-Star Race Value Picks | DraftKings & FanDuel NASCAR Fantasy

The field is set for Sunday’s race at Texas with Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney on the front row. Let’s delve into this week’s top Fantasy NASCAR picks and value plays for DraftKings and FanDuel NASCAR DFS lineups for the NASCAR All-Star Race.

DraftKings Fantasy NASCAR Picks: Best NASCAR All-Star Race Values

Cash Game Theory

With a depressed field (24 drivers by the end of the Open races on Sunday), and just 125 laps on tap, cash game players are left with an important decision; build with a singular lap leader or go with all place differential drivers. Both avenues make sense as a driver out front could easily sweep a stage (25 laps) and then be positioned to lead most or all of the final 50 laps. Should a driver do this, then they could easily be optimal, like last year as Kyle Larson started on the pole, led 17 laps with 13 fastest laps, and still ended up optimal after just 100 laps.

However, for those that don’t want to take a dart and try to nail a lap leader, who could easily lose place differential, and negate whatever dominator points they accrue, going with all drivers starting 13th or worse would be the preferred path. No, this is not a plate-race build where lineups are just stacking the back blindly. Drivers should be chosen who have access to place differential while also having the capability to finish in the top-5 or top-10. For example, Michael McDowell has plenty of theoretical place differential starting 19th but the chances he capitalizes on it and turns it into a sixth-place finish are slim.

Kyle Busch, 1st ($9,500 DraftKings, $12,500 FanDuel)

By virtue of his pit crew, Busch won the pole for Sunday’s race, setting him up in a perfect spot to run away with the first stage and subsequently the first starting position in the final 50-lap feature race. While not the fastest car in practice, Busch has enough speed to use lane choice to his advantage and sit tight and grab the stage victory and a slew of dominator points in the process. At Texas two closest corollaries thus far of 2022 (Las Vegas and Kansas), Busch has led lap totals of 49 and 18 with top-five finishes in both events.

Denny Hamlin, 16th ($9,200 DraftKings, $10,500 FanDuel)

After posting the fastest single-lap speed in practice, followed by the second-fastest speeds in the five and 10-lap intervals, Hamlin posted a disappointing qualifying speed placing him 16th on the board. While it’s a knock on Hamlin’s ledger that he won’t have crew chief Chris Gabehart guiding him through the race, Hamlin should still be a safe bet to take his fast Toyota and navigate into the top-five as he did last week at Kansas.

Alex Bowman, 20th ($8,200 DraftKings, $8,500 FanDuel)

The lack of speed that Bowman demonstrated in practice carried over into the single-car, single-lap portion of qualifying as he ran the slowest lap of all drivers. However, none of this really matters considering it’s a Hendrick vehicle with plenty of time to make up positions, and position is exactly what he has to gain with a plethora of place differential available.

The Final Four Drivers

This information won’t be privy to NASCAR DFS players until the conclusion of the three Open races and subsequent fan vote (Sunday, starting at 5:30 p.m.). Thus, be sure to keep track of the drivers that qualify their way into the All-Star Race on Sunday night. Regardless, whoever these drivers are they will become strong cash game considerations as they’ll all hold the largest place differential potential. For those leery of playing these four drivers, they shouldn’t worry too much about speed or performance because it’s those very things that catapulted them to the top of the field in the Open races, and compared to some drivers who have guaranteed spots in the All-Star Race due to their anomalous wins, they probably have better vehicles. The only exception to this rule may be the driver who wins the fan vote as this could end up being Corey Lajoie or another popular driver in bad equipment, especially when compared to everyone else in this 24-driver field. Yet, don’t be shocked if it’s Tyler Reddick, who though won the pole in the Open race is going to the rear for a tire change.
