Lineup Review for Talladega
I hate repeating myself but lineup construction for a superspeedway race is worth reiterating. If you don’t have this down, your lineups will basically be dead before the slate ever locked.
- Cash lineups should have no driver starting higher than 20th.
- Tournament lineups should have exposure to drivers in the single digits and teens. Yet, no more than 2 per lineup from this group or else you’re opening the door to way too much volatility. If you do have drivers from the top-10, only 1 per lineup.
- Don’t stress over dominators; fastest laps will get dispersed randomly throughout the field and laps led are hard to predict. The lead will change so much, over nearly half of the field. Thus, if drivers in your player pool lead laps then it’s a bonus.
- This is not Daytona, so don’t get too comfortable with punts. Unlike Daytona, punts don’t usually have too much of a ceiling at Talladega.
- Salary is nothing to worry about; if you have thousands or even tens of thousands left over – so what? We’re worried about place differential and finishing position – not FPPK.

Talladega Super Sheet
Instead of going into detail about why I want to jam in as much Brendan Gaughan this week, I’m providing the Super Sheet detailing how I feel about each individual driver. Drivers in blue are from the group you should only have 1-2 of per lineup. Drivers in green are safe for cash and should make up the bulk of your rosters.
Sadly, as per the way the lineup is set now, I see a lot less cash viable drivers in the field this week. Thus, for tournaments, you’re probably going to need to really mix and match the blue drivers to get differentiation and avoid duplicate rosters.
