DraftKings Slam Dunks Tue 1/30

The injury news today has already started coming in big time. John Wall is out for the next six weeks, Aaron Gordon is out, Caris LeVert and RHJ are out for the Nets, and the Pistons and Clippers have several players out due to the Blake Griffin trade. Here are my top 3 plays for today’s main slate!
Note: Top value is determined for DraftKings by being excess points above 5x salary.
1. Elfrid Payton. With Aaron Gordon’s absence piled on top of the Magic’s already existing injury woes (i.e. Vucevic, Ross and Isaac), expect the Magic to rely heavily upon Payton in a game sporting the day’s highest total. The only way the Magic stay in the game against Houston’s juggernaut offense is if Elf picks up the slack. Plus the threat of him landing on CP3 island (which may scare the faint-hearted) is limited given Paul’s questionable tag. Expect Payton to see a healthy bump in usage and—barring a blowout—4-5 minutes above average. He has a 27.4% chance of being a top-5 value.
2. DeAndre Jordan and 3. Lou Williams. As the primary beneficiaries of the Blake Griffin trade, Lou Williams and DeAndre Jordan are candidates to blow up. While Williams’ appeal comes on the offensive end with increased usage (26.9 with Blake on vs 32.7 with Blake off), DeAndre’s rebounding rate is what has me excited (23.3 Blake on vs 28.2 Blake off). Both should also benefit from additional minutes as new Clips Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley and Boban Marjanovic are still making the long cross-country trek. Lou and DeAndre have 28.8% and 24.2%, respectively, probability of achieving top-5 value.
