NBA DFS Picks: Value + Stud for Sept. 25
NBA DFS Value Pick: Robert Williams
DraftKings $2,600, FanDuel $6,500
The Celtics changed up their rotation last game. After Enes Kanter was the first big man off the bench for a couple of games, Williams took that role back last game. While Williams didn’t play a ton, he doesn’t have to at his salary. In 12 minutes, he scored 12.5 DraftKings point and ended up as the top value play on the slate with almost no ownership. He will garner more ownership tonight, but the lack of clarity in the Celtics’ rotation should keep his ownership in check. Williams is a strong per minute fantasy producer and there is a severe lack of value on this slate. I expect anything over five minutes is enough to make Williams the best value tonight. He played well enough on Wednesday that he should stick in the rotation.

NBA DFS Stud Pick: Jimmy Butler
DraftKings $9,800, FanDuel $14,500
From a fantasy standpoint, this is not Butler’s best series. The Heat have a chance to clinch the series tonight and advance to the Finals, while there is also reason to think Butler plays a bigger role beyond narratives. Bam Adebayo injured his wrist in Miami’s Game 4 win over the Celtics. Even though he stayed in the game and isn’t on the injury report, the injury looked somewhat significant at the time. This isn’t to say Adebayo is dealing with a very serious injury, but I don’t think he is 100% either. My hunch is that Adebayo is dinged up enough to the point that more offense will through Butler tonight. This is the main reason I expect Butler to see more than the 22.2% usage rating he got earlier in the first four games of the series.
NBA DFS Contrarian Pick: Kelly Olynyk
DraftKings $3,600, FanDuel $6,500
My reason for liking Olynyk as a contrarian option is due to the same reason I like Butler. With Adebayo’s wrist injury, I am not sure he will play the same workload we normally see from him. Adebayo is playing 39 minutes per game in this series and any minutes that get taken away from him should go to Olynyk. There is risk here since Olynyk wasn’t in the rotation last game, but this should also keep his ownership in check. Don’t forget, Williams was in the winning lineup on Wednesday after back-to-back DNPs. Sometimes it takes a big risk to win these high variance Showdown contests.
