Jock MKT NBA Picks | Thursday, 4/29/21

Alex Hunter breaks down the NBA contests on Jock MKT NBA for Thursday and gives you his top NBA DFS picks and fantasy basketball advice.

Welcome to Jock MKT, where DFS becomes a stock exchange, allows users to buy and sell in real-time for real money. To play, simply download the app here and get to trading! We are going to review the basics, including how Jock MKT differs from making regular NBA picks, and how it aligns with the fantasy basketball games you already know. Below are three of the best Jock MKT NBA Picks for Thursday, April 29th, based on the expert projections from No. 1 DFS player in the world Alex Baker.

The Jock MKT Starter Kit: NBA Picks | April 29

How to Play at Jock MKT

To begin, enter the NBA Daily Market when the Initial Public Offering (IPO) phase is under way. Leading up until the start of the first game, bid up on players you are interested in acquiring on the open market. Is there a player who you consider a favorite to finish at the top of the rankings? Invest as much or as little as you want in their fantasy performance, with shares beginning at $1 and ranging all the way up to $25. See potential injury news that could open up an opportunity for another player to acquire fantasy points? Make speculative bids for shares of the back-up, hoping for that news to break after the IPO phase is complete.

The next part of the game occurs during live trading. Unlike regular NBA DFS where your plays are locked in, you can buy and sell shares of players while the games are happening based on their production and where you could see them finishing amongst the field. Track as current points, projected points, and live price for each player is updated in real time, allowing you to track the action and invest in an instant to account for news. Trading can be done all the way up until the final buzzer of the night’s final game.

At the end of the games, each player share is paid out based on their final rankings of fantasy points amongst the field. If the shares you own are worth more than what you paid, you win money. It’s as simple as that! For more information, check out the Jock MKT website.

Strategy Session: Star Power

While its early, Thursday night’s four-game Jock MKT slate that tips off at 8:00 p.m. ET doesn’t feature many injury situations to monitor, and there is a plethora of stars to choose from if looking to pay up. Giannis Antetokounmpo is facing a horrible Rockets defense, Nikola Jokic gets a home matchup against the Raptors, and Stephen Curry meets a Timberwolves defense that has been allergic to stopping point guards all season. Of these three, the latter is my favorite to pursue in the IPO tonight.

Currently the 10th seed in the West, the Warriors are playing for their playoff lives with only 10 games to go, and Curry should put on a show in this projected shootout. The Vegas oddsmakers have this game at a slate-high 234-point total and this soft Wolves’ defense is an optimal spot for 3-point shooters. So far this month, Minnesota is allowing its opponents to knock down 15.6 3-pointers per game, at a 40.8% clip, both of which are league-highs for April. Curry and the Warriors have the most at stake Thursday night, and the sharpshooter should come at a cheaper price than Antetokounmpo and Jokic.

Jock MKT NBA Picks for Tonight

Michael Porter Jr.

In the absences of Jamal Murray (knee), Monte Morris (hamstring) and Will Barton (hamstring), Porter has been a certified fantasy stud, scoring 46.1 Jock points per game in his past three. Mike Malone has relied on Porter for a team-high 36.8 minutes per game during this time, and Porter’s usage has elevated to 27.8%.

Porter has surpassed his Jock projection by an average 10.76 fantasy points over this span, and he should have no issues doing so again in this plus spot against Rockets. Houston ranks 27th in defensive rating this month, and Porter just destroyed them for 55.5 Jock points last Saturday.

D’Angelo Russell

Russell came up short of exceeding his Jock projection Tuesday against the Rockets, but it was still very encouraging to see him handle 29.2 minutes on the second night of a back-to-back. Russell officially doesn’t carry a minutes restriction anymore, and before Tuesday, he had beat his Jock projection in four straight contests, including a 48.5-Jock-point showing against the Jazz and their elite defense.

Russell’s usage has been at a strong 27.3% in his past five, and he can safely be penciled him in for around 30 minutes with the Warriors only five-point favorites tonight. Both of these offenses rank inside the top three in pace this season, and Russell should flourish in this up-tempo atmosphere against his former team.

Luguentz Dort

Assuming Dort isn’t rested tonight, he has great upside against the defensively inept Pelicans. New Orleans ranks fourth-to-last in defensive efficiency this season, and with the Thunder running out the worst starting five in the league, Dort has been force fed a 28.7% usage rate this month. He has responded with 35.75 Jock points per game while shooting 46.7% from the field and 45.7% from beyond the arc.

Considering the amount of big names on this slate, Dort’s price should stay reasonable in the IPO, and he is an excellent low-risk, high-reward gamble Thursday night.
