The Jock MKT Starter Kit: NBA Picks | April 22

How to Play at Jock MKT

To begin, enter the NBA Daily Market when the Initial Public Offering (IPO) phase is under way. Leading up until the start of the first game, bid up on players you are interested in acquiring on the open market. Is there a player who you consider a favorite to finish at the top of the rankings? Invest as much or as little as you want in their fantasy performance, with shares beginning at $1 and ranging all the way up to $25. See potential injury news that could open up an opportunity for another player to acquire fantasy points? Make speculative bids for shares of the back-up, hoping for that news to break after the IPO phase is complete.

The next part of the game occurs during live trading. Unlike regular NBA DFS where your plays are locked in, you can buy and sell shares of players while the games are happening based on their production and where you could see them finishing amongst the field. Track as current points, projected points, and live price for each player is updated in real time, allowing you to track the action and invest in an instant to account for news. Trading can be done all the way up until the final buzzer of the night’s final game.

At the end of the games, each player share is paid out based on their final rankings of fantasy points amongst the field. If the shares you own are worth more than what you paid, you win money. It’s as simple as that! For more information, check out the Jock MKT website.

Strategy Session: Rest Candidates

Thursday’s Jock MKT slate features the final three NBA games of the night, kicking off at 8:30 p.m. EST. Four of the six teams competing were in action last night, and it is very likely that many key players will get the night off for rest. First is Kristaps Porzingis and the Mavericks. Only one time has he played both legs of a back-to-back set this season, and it’s very unlikely Porzingis will be available for this matchup with the Lakers. While the initial thought would be to attack Luka Doncic, Jalen Brunson is at a far cheaper price. Brunson earned the spot start the last time Porzingis was out and is a candidate to enter Dallas’ first unit Thursday. Nonetheless, Brunson’s playing time is going to see a notable upgrade — starter or not — if Porzingis is inactive. In the last three games Porzingis has missed, Brunson has logged an average of 29.9 minutes, helping him score 25.2 Jock points per game.

The second team that may sit some of their players is the Pistons. In full tank mode, Detroit has been resting players almost every game as of late. Jerami Grant and Mason Plumlee have both missed two of the last four games for management purposes. They both played and saw their full complement of minutes last night in Dallas, so there is a strong chance that at least one of Grant or Plumlee will be missing for Thursday’s visit to San Antonio. Specifically watch the status of Plumlee because his absence would open the door for Isaiah Stewart to start at center. With this role, Stewart has been dominant the last four times Plumlee has been sidelined, producing 40.4 Jock points per game. Against the Spurs defense that has yielded the fifth-most rebounds and fifth-most points in the paint per game across their past 10, Stewart will be the top target of this Jock MKT slate if the Pistons do indeed rest Plumlee.

Jock MKT NBA Picks for Tonight

Terry Rozier

As the Hornets chase a playoff spot in the East, Rozier has really stepped up for his club. With Gordon Hayward (foot), LaMelo Ball (wrist) and Malik Monk (ankle) all out, Rozier has amassed 48.6 Jock points per game in his last four. His usage has been at 26.9% and he has shot an efficient 51.2% from the field during this stretch, which led to him beating his Jock projection in each of these last four starts.

All of Ball, Monk and Hayward will remain sidelined Thursday night, and Rozier brings 40-Jock-point upside against a Bulls team that ranks 23rd in defensive rating over their past five.

P.J. Washington

In their last two games, the Hornets have primarily used small ball lineups with Washington at center. He has 34.5 minutes per game off the bench, resulting in 35.1 Jock points per game. In addition to the increase in playing time, Washington’s usage has been up to 26.75% in these two, which is a huge upgrade from his 19.7% average for the season. With this type of role, Washington should surpass his 31.22-Jock-point projection against a soft Bulls interior defense that has been vulnerable to centers all season.

Coby White

Since Zach LaVine entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols four games ago, White has averaged 30.9 Jock points per game. With the starting role, he has played at least 30 minutes in every game and is averaging a 23.8% usage rate. Even with LaVine in the lineup, White recorded 33.25 Jock points against the Hornets back in January, and beating his Jock projection shouldn’t be difficult with LaVine missing this time around.
