🏀 Jock MKT NBA Picks | Thursday, 2/25/21

Welcome to Jock MKT, where daily fantasy sports becomes a stock exchange, allows users to buy and sell in real-time for real money. To play, simply download the app here and get to trading! We’re going to review the basics, including how JockMKT differs from making regular NBA picks, and how it aligns with the fantasy basketball games you already know. Below I present to you three of my favorite Jock MKT NBA Picks for Thursday, Feb. 25.

The Jock MKT Starter Kit: NBA Picks | Feb. 25

How to Play at Jock MKT

To begin, enter the NBA Daily Market when the Initial Public Offering (IPO) phase is under way. Leading up until the start of the first game, bid up on players you are interested in acquiring on the open market. Is there a player who you consider a favorite to finish at the top of the rankings? Invest as much or as little as you want in their fantasy performance, with shares beginning at $1 and ranging all the way up to $25. See potential injury news that could open up an opportunity for another player to acquire fantasy points? Make speculative bids for shares of the back-up, hoping for that news to break after the IPO phase is complete.

The next part of the game occurs during live trading. Unlike in regular NBA DFS where your plays are locked in, you can buy and sell shares of players while the games are happening based on their production and where you could see them finishing amongst the field. Track as current points, projected points, and live price for each player is updated in real time, allowing you to track the action and invest in an instant to account for news. Trading can be done all the way up until the final buzzer of the night’s final game.

At the end of the games, each player share is paid out based on their final rankings of fantasy points amongst the field. If the shares you own are worth more than what you paid, you win money. It’s as simple as that! For more information, go to jockmkt.com.

Strategy Session: Stars Galore

It is important to note that are six games on the NBA schedule tonight, but only five of them will be used for this Jock MKT slate. The Mavericks – 76ers game that tips off at 7:00 p.m. EST will not be included, and the IPO will be closing at 7:30 p.m. EST. The remaining five tilts all present high game totals, and there is a plethora of stars that will be in action, headlined by Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo and James Harden. If forced to choose one to attack in the IPO, I think Antetokounmpo is my favorite target in a home matchup against the Pelicans that carries an enormous game total of 240.5 points. The reigning two-time MVP has scored over 60 Jock points in six of his past eight starts and has beaten his Jock projection in seven of these contests. This Pelicans defense he will face ranks 28th in defensive efficiency, and Antetokounmpo recorded 60.3 Jock points in his first meeting with New Orleans this season.

One of the injury situations that I believe is worth monitoring is the status of Jeff Green (questionable, shoulder). The Nets have often used him at center this season for small-ball lineups and his absence could lead to more playing time for DeAndre Jordan. With Green and Kevin Durant (out, hamstring) both sidelined Tuesday, Jordan saw 34 minutes of work and supplied 27.5 Jock Points against the Kings. If Green is inactive again, Jordan would be a lock to play over 30 minutes against the Magic and a solid bet for a double-double. Let’s not forget that Jock MKT’s scoring system deducts 0.5 fantasy points for every missed field goal, making Jordan an ideal target considering his high 79% field-goal percentage this season. Bruce Brown also seized the opportunity sans Durant and Green on Tuesday, scoring a season-high 39 Jock Points. His usage was at 26% in this win over Sacramento, which marks another season high for Brown, and he would also be an option to consider purchasing shares of in the IPO if Green is unable to suit up. Luckily, this Nets – Magic matchup is the first of the Jock MKT slate to tip off, so we should have confirmation on Green before the IPO closes.

My JOCK MKT NBA Picks for Tonight

Bradley Beal

Beal has been great, providing 47.2 Jock points per game across his past six, and his No. 8 pre-draft ranking is too low for tonight’s matchup against the Nuggets. The total of this contest is currently at 237 points, and the Nuggets are dealing with a slew of key injuries right now. In their past five, Denver ranks 24th in defensive rating, and they should have no answer for Beal.

Beal has beaten his Jock MKT projection in five of his past six starts, and I fully expect him to accomplish this feat again Thursday night.

Terrence Ross

With Aaron Gordon (ankle), Cole Anthony (rib) and Markelle Fultz (knee) all out in the past seven for the Magic, Ross has generated 32.75 Jock points per game. His usage has increased to a 28.9% in these contests, which is a 4.6% differential from his average usage for 2020-21, and all of these players will remain sidelined tonight.

This date with the Nets sports a 226.5 over/under, which is high for the Magic, and this is a huge pace increase Orlando. Brooklyn ranks fifth in pace, compared to Orlando’s ranking of 22nd. Playing at a faster speed is optimal for Ross, and he brings excellent upside in this potential shootout with the red-hot Nets.

Derrick Rose

Tonight the Knicks are expected to be without Elfrid Payton (doubtful, hamstring) for the first time this season. Rose may enter the starting lineup in his place, but even if he doesn’t, he should rise to the occasion in this gorgeous matchup against the Kings. Tuesday night, Rose saw his highest minute total since being traded to the Knicks, logging 27.1 against the Warriors. The expanded workload translated to 33 Jock points, and tonight is an island game, meaning the Knicks didn’t play last night nor will they tomorrow.

This is good news for the always-fragile Rose, and with Payton out of the equation, Rose should approach 30 minutes against a Kings defense that ranks dead last in defensive efficiency. He isn’t the safest choice, but I think Rose could get slept on in the IPO, and the reward certainly outweighs the risk in this strong of a spot.
