The Jock MKT Starter Kit: NBA Picks | Feb. 16

How to Play at Jock MKT

To begin, enter the NBA Daily Market when the Initial Public Offering (IPO) phase is under way. Leading up until the start of the first game, bid up on players you are interested in acquiring on the open market. Is there a player who you consider a favorite to finish at the top of the rankings? Invest as much or as little as you want in their fantasy performance, with shares beginning at $1 and ranging all the way up to $25. See potential injury news that could open up an opportunity for another player to acquire fantasy points? Make speculative bids for shares of the back-up, hoping for that news to break after the IPO phase is complete.

The next part of the game occurs during live trading. Unlike in regular NBA DFS where your plays are locked in, you can buy and sell shares of players while the games are happening based on their production and where you could see them finishing amongst the field. Track as current points, projected points, and live price for each player is updated in real time, allowing you to track the action and invest in an instant to account for news. Trading can be done all the way up until the final buzzer of the night’s final game.

At the end of the games, each player share is paid out based on their final rankings of fantasy points amongst the field. If the shares you own are worth more than what you paid, you win money. It’s as simple as that! For more information, go to jockmkt.com.

Strategy Session  — Injuries Galore

For starters, Tuesday’s slate has already been reduced from seven games to six because of a positive test for COVID-19 on the Spurs. On top of that, the slate will be riddled with injuries to star players. Among the big names of note, Anthony Davis (calf), Kevin Durant (hamstring), Jrue Holiday (COVID-19) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (knee) are all not expected to play. That means there are some depleted depth charts to consider targeting right away during the IPO phase.

The first team that comes to mind is the Blazers, who will be without C.J. McCollum (foot), Jusuf Nurkic (wrist), Rodney Hood (foot) and Harry Giles (calf) in a matchup against a Thunder team that has played at the ninth-fastest pace in the league. Damian Lillard is the first name that jumps off the page, and Gary Trent Jr. has also been playing well in place of McCollum. Enes Kanter might be forced to play a lot with no true center behind him on the depth chart, and the Blazers could continue to ask for increased production from Carmelo Anthony, who has scored at least 21 points in five of the last seven games.

Another important matter to keep an eye on is the status of Kyrie Irving. The Nets just played Monday, so there is a chance that he could be rested Tuesday. He has played in both games of a back-to-back set twice, though, and the Nets really need him with Durant out, so he could very well take the floor without any restrictions. It might be best to snag James Harden early, though, because if Irving were to sit, his production could go through the roof.

My Jock MKT NBA Targets for Tonight

LeBron JamesNo Davis means that James will be left to shoulder the load for the Lakers moving forward. Despite a lengthy run in the playoffs and an abnormally short offseason, James has been as busy as ever, logging an average of 35 minutes per contest. That’s helped propel him to averages of 25.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.1 steals. He could torch a Timberwolves defense that enters this matchup with the eighth-worst defensive rating in the league.

Kyle KuzmaThe Lakers could turn to Kuzma to take over Davis’ spot in the starting five. He’s certainly earned the opportunity with his recent play given that he has averages of 14.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.9 3-pointers across the last nine games. If you don’t want to spend up for James, Kuzma could also provide plenty of value at a price that is likely more obtainable.

Hamidou DialloNot only is Gilgeous-Alexander out for the Thunder, but so is George Hill (thumb). Also, Theo Maledon has missed the last four games while in the league’s health-and-safety protocols. Diallo has stepped up in the wake of all of the team’s injuries, averaging 14.9 points 8.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals across the last seven games. The key is that he averaged 35 minutes per contest during that stretch, a trend that is likely to continue Tuesday.
