We have a tiny NBA fantasy slate today, with only three games on the main slate and two earlier games. Despite this, there is still injury news you will need to pay attention to. The Awesemo NBA Starting Lineups page will give you breaking news when starters are announced as well as a full injury report on players who might be missing in action. Below are some NBA daily fantasy options that stand out for tonight’s slate using Awesemo Boom/Bust Tool and NBA DFS projections.
NBA Fantasy Projections & Optimal Lineup Picks Tonight
Top Boom Candidates
Tyus Jones: $4,800 DraftKings/$3,800 FanDuel | 40.2% DraftKings Boom/64.6% FanDuel Boom
Ja Morant will be out for a bit with a sprained knee. In his absence, we should see Tyus Jones get a large bump in playing time and usage. This season, he has averaged just under one NBA fantasy point per minute while playing 15.7 minutes per game. Due to the Morant injury, Awesemo projects Jones to play 29.9 minutes tonight against a Kings team that had a triple-overtime game just a couple of nights ago. He clearly is a great value play and, due to his price, he has the upside to greatly exceed value.
De’Anthony Melton: $3,700 DraftKings/$4,500 FanDuel | 43.7% DraftKings Boom/30.1% FanDuel Boom
We’ll attack the same spot for the same exact reasons for our second pick as well. Surprisingly, De’Anthony Melton is cheaper than Jones on DraftKings while being more expensive on FanDuel. Their prices determine who is the more desirable play, so Melton is a bit more desirable on DraftKings today. He has averaged 25.8 minutes this season, due to Dillon Brooks being sidelined for so long. Awesemo projects Melton to play 26.8 minutes tonight, and the Awesemo Boom/Bust Tool gives Melton a ceiling of about 31 NBA fantasy points.
Chimezie Metu: $3,900 DraftKings/$4,100 FanDuel | 41.4% DraftKings Boom/36.2% FanDuel Boom
Sticking in the same game, Richaun Holmes is out sick and Harrison Barnes is doubtful with a foot injury. By default, Chimezie Metu must play minutes tonight, and that is the reason why he is the top overall value on DraftKings today, according to Awesemo’s projections. He is projected to play 27 minutes, and it doesn’t take much to exceed value at his price. On such a small slate, it’s easy to play him and pay up for some of the other studs. It is important to note that Marvin Bagley saw a bunch of playing time last game and should easily exceed his projection for tonight, but that doesn’t make Metu a risky play by any means.

Top Bust Candidates
Russell Westbrook: $11,000 DraftKings/$9,600 FanDuel | 84.9% DraftKings Bust/68.7% FanDuel Bust
LeBron James is questionable to play tonight, but Russell Westbrook is still priced too high, especially on DraftKings. With LeBron on the floor, the ball comes out of Westbrook’s hands too often, and he is not an off-ball type of player. The Awesemo NBA betting model also expects this game against the Pistons to be incredibly one-sided, while the other two games on the main slate have tight spreads. The risk of Westbrook sitting early, especially after a triple-overtime game a couple of nights ago, is enough to pass on him.
