NBA Daily Fantasy Injury Report: Starting Lineups & Today’s Breaking NBA News for DraftKings & FanDuel Picks Tonight | 10/30/21

The NBA Injury Report is full of impact injuries once again and seven teams are on the second league of a back-to-back. With this article, the work of the other staff members and the amazing NBA DFS projections, those scenarios can be handled much more easily. That allows for pivoting at the drop of a hat, and the NBA Starting Lineup page is an extremely important tool as well. There are 11 games for NBA DFS through the day but one is not on the main slate.

NBA Injury Report & Starting Lineups Today | Oct. 30

Remember to always place players from the later games in guard, forward and utility slots on DraftKings. Allow maximum flexibility to react to the news that comes out after lock, which will happen in NBA. Additionally, take advantage of the wealth of Awesemo NBA content to get ready for these slates.

Teams Playing the Second of a Back-to-Back

Orlando Magic, New Orleans Pelicans, Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers

Boston Celtics at Washington Wizards

Celtics – Marcus Smart – Out

Romero Langford – Questionable

Smart has been playing a ton of minutes so here is a sizable role to fill. It’s possible that Dennis Schroeder could just re-enter the starting lineup and work alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The Celtics could also elect to leave him on the bench and slide more minutes towards Josh Richardson. When Smart has been off the floor so far, Schroder has a 25.4% usage and 0.89 fantasy points per minute but his true shooting rate is awful in the sample at 40%. Richardson has generated 0.72 fantasy points per minute and his true shooting is 73.1%, so both players will see some sort of regression in that department. It would not appear that Payton Pritchard will have much of a role as he has not played more than 16 minutes yet.

Wizards – Daniel Gafford – Doubtful

Rui Hachimura, Thomas Bryant – IR

With Gafford looking very unlikely to play, Montrezl Harrell is in line for another monster workload. He’s played 38 and 34 minutes so far with 1.23 fantasy points per minute and a usage rate over 20%. Boston is bottom 10 in both points and rebounds allowed in the paint while Harrell is 11th in paint touches per game across the league.

Orlando Magic at Detroit Pistons

Magic – Markelle Fultz, Chuma Okeke, Michael Carter-Williams – IR

Orlando did play yesterday but has yet to submit an official NBA Injury Report. They did not have any new injuries yesterday so the only question is if any injury popped up during the game or someone rests.

Pistons – Jerami Grant – Probable

The notable aspect of the NBA Injury Report for the Pistons is who is not on it and that is the No. 1 pick Cade Cunningham. It is not known if he will face any restrictions as far as minutes but that needs to be monitored because DraftKings has him priced at just $3,600. The only two starters that would be with Cunningham that have a usage rate over 17% are Jerami Grant and Shaddiq Bey. Cunningham could hit value in as little as 20 minutes.

New York Knicks at New Orleans Pelicans

Knicks – Nerlens Noel – Out

Noel has still yet to play so there are no changes for the Knicks.

Pelicans – Not Yet Submitted

With New Orleans playing last night, the first NBA Injury Report for them won’t come until the afternoon. Josh Hart played last night but came off the bench and split minutes about equally with Herb Jones. Unless something changes, the Pelicans are healthy for this game.

Toronto Raptors at Indiana Pacers

Raptors – Pascal Siakam – IR

The Raptors have not submitted the official version but Siakam is out until at least mid-November. Past that, they were healthy last night.

Pacers – Not Yet Submitted

The two largest pieces of news that are known for the Pacers are the status of Caris LeVert and Malcolm Brogdon. LeVert has not played yet this year but has been questionable for the past two games. That would lead everyone to believe he’s not far away from playing. Brogdon would appear to be on the shakier ground since he missed last night with a hamstring injury. If both remain out, T.J. McConnell is still in play despite a pedestrian fantasy output last night. It didn’t help he shot 4-for-14 from the field but he played 33 minutes and has around 0.90 fantasy points per minute. Chris Duarte is in the same boat since he has a usage over 25% and he played 34 minutes.

Atlanta Hawks at Philadelphia 76ers

Hawks – Bogdan Bogdanovic – Probable

Bogdanovic is the only entry for the Hawks on the NBA Injury Report.

76ers – Ben Simmons – Out

Joel Embiid – Questionable

The 76ers remain the same as Embiid has been questionable for almost the entire season and hasn’t missed a beat as far as minutes. The one note that could be useful is Shake Milton came back and played 16 minutes in his last game. He could continue to see his minutes grow as he gets more comfortable and Tyrese Maxey hasn’t exactly distinguished himself as a starter. With Milton priced at $3,200 on DraftKings, he could potentially be a value if the minutes are a bit more trustworthy.

Utah Jazz at Chicago Bulls

Jazz – Mike Conley – Out

Eric Paschall, Hassan Whiteside – Probable

With Conley already ruled out, it’s expected that Joe Ingles will enter the starting lineup. The usage is not going to be high and his year is under 12% but his fantasy points per minute are at 0.83. Donovan Mitchell looks more appealing than normal as well with a usage rate over 36% and 1.53 fantasy points per minute. His touches will certainly jump over the 48.5 he’s averaging right now and his shooting is due to get better as he’s under 40% from the field. Both these teams are in the top-five in defensive rating so far this season.

Bulls – Coby White – IR

Patrick Williams – Out, IR

Williams has a dislocated wrist and will miss the rest of the regular season. That is a shame but for fantasy purposes, this is not a huge difference. Williams only had a 9.6% usage rate and 0.51 fantasy points per minute, leaving the quartet of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball, and Nikola Vucevic to run things for the Bulls.

Miami Heat at Memphis Grizzlies

Heat – Not Yet Submitted

The Heat are one of those teams to not have an update until the afternoon but everyone was healthy yesterday. Bam Adebayo was questionable but played big minutes while Kyle Lowry “warmed up with the intention of playing” and logged 36 minutes. If Lowry were to sit, Gabe Vincent entered the starting lineup last time but Tyler Herro would still be the strongly preferred target. He has a 32.1% usage rate and 1.27 fantasy points per minute and the usage is the highest on the team. Jimmy Butler has him beat in fantasy points per minute at 1.38 but it’s known who to go after.

If Adebayo would be out for any reason, Dewayne Dedmon would likely start and has only a 15.3% usage rate but 1.20 fantasy points per minute. Memphis is in the top-eight in paint points and rebounds allowed in the paint, but Dedmon is only $3,200 on DraftKings.

Grizzlies – Dillon Brooks – Out

The 10:30 PM NBA Injury report has Brooks listed as out. However, the only timetable the public knew for Brooks was he would be out through the road trip. They are back at home so his status at least has a chance of changing. De’Anthony Melton and Desmond Bane are still in play if Brooks remains out, while if Brooks makes it back Melton should retreat to the bench.

San Antonio Spurs at Milwaukee Bucks

Spurs – Doug McDermott – Out

Lonnie Walker IV took the starting job for McDermott and played 27 minutes. He still has a 24% usage rate and 1.09 fantasy points per minute but he didn’t find that last game. Both he and Devin Vassell had minutes behind them but nothing going for fantasy production. They are both inexpensive but if they both play around 25 minutes, it’s going to be difficult to pick the right player each night.

Bucks – Jrue Holiday, Brook Lopez, Donte DiVincenzo, Bobby Portis – Out

Portis has only managed to play one game so far and that means Jordan Nwora remains a strong play at the salary. It is surprising to see that he has the third-highest usage rate after Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo so far this season (albeit at 19.3%). He also has the third-highest fantasy points per minute at 0.92 so even in 22-25 minutes, Nwora can make his minutes count.

Giannis will surely be a very popular play and has a gigantic 1.80 fantasy points per minute without Holiday on the floor so far. Middleton’s box scores don’t look great but his true shooting is just 47.2% and that will not stick around forever. George Hill is the point guard in name only with just a 13.3% usage.

Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden State Warriors

Thunder – None

Warriors – Klay Thompson, Jonathan Wiseman – IR

Jonathan Kuminga – Probable

Damion Lee, Juan Toscano-Anderson – Questionable

According to coach Steve Kerr, Moses Moody will see more minutes if Lee is not available and Lee is playing 27 minutes per night. Yes, Moody was assigned to the G-League yesterday but he can come right back and Kerr said that after he was assigned.

There also could be the wild card of Kuminga, although it would be difficult to project an immediate fantasy-relevant role for him. If Moody plays the Lee role exactly, that’s been an 18.9% usage rate and 0.74 fantasy points per minute. Perhaps we see both rookies work into some minutes if both Lee and Toscano-Anderson are not available but that will need to be updated through the day.

Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves

Nuggets – Jamal Murray – IR

The NBA Injury Report isn’t official for the Nuggets yet but they were totally healthy last night with Nikola Jokic playing through a knee issue. Since they blew out the Mavericks, the starters didn’t play all of their normal minutes.

Timberwolves – None

Cleveland Cavaliers at Phoenix Suns

Cavaliers – Not Yet Submitted

The Cavaliers are going from Los Angeles to Phoenix tonight and the only player they were missing last night was Isaac Okoro. That has been the case for two games and does not affect fantasy.

Suns – Cameron Payne – Out

Dario Saric – IR

Elfrid Payton has the backup role for the point guard position right now but just as was expected, he played 13 minutes in a competitive game.
