Last night we had a seven-game NBA DFS slate, which absolutely required late swapping to have a chance. Joel Embiid was scratched minutes before tip-off leaving players like Ben Simmons (4.9% rostered), Tobias Harris (7.8%) and Dwight Howard (4.3%) with fantastic median projections for their price. I personally ended up 8x the field on Harris and 7x the field on Simmons. I was shocked at their low ownership, once again proving that late-swap is indeed the biggest edge we have left in NBA daily fantasy. The main DraftKings GPP was the NBA $500K Excellent 8’s ($100,000 to first, $8 to enter). Let’s get right into the NBA daily fantasy lineup review where we break down the building process and strategy of the winners.
NBA Daily Fantasy DraftKings GPP Lineup Review | Feb. 15
In this NBA DraftKings GPP, there were 73,529 total entries from 23,172 different DFS players, 3,309 (14.2%) of which made a profit. A total of 85.8% of DFS players who entered this GPP lost money.
The Winner
Congratulations to JesusLean, who won this GPP with a massive score of 435.5. The winning lineup used $49,600 salary and had a cumulative team ownership of 168.8%. Mr. Lean entered just a single bullet into this GPP and took it down. The winning lineup had Simmons and Howard as well as a very low-owned Hassan Whiteside.

Salary and Ownership
Nine of the top 50 finishers used less than $49,700. Team salaries were lower than normal, with a 20% drop in lineups using max salary. Here are the top salaries used last night:
- $50,000 | 42%
- $49,900 | 23%
- $49,800 | 13%
- $49,700 | 8%
- $49,600 | 5%
The most popular optimal lineup was played 98 times, using all $50,000 team salary and a cumulative team ownership of 232.6%. It scored 329.75 and min cashed.
We also saw a 147-lineup train and a 150-lineup train that did not cash.
The 150-Maxers
One hundred and twenty-six 150-maxers entered 18,900 lineups, making up 25.7% of entries in this tournament. Thirty-four made a profit, while 16 cashed fewer than 20 lineups. 150-maxers took second, fourth and 10th place. I rostered DeMarcus Cousins (3.4x) in 71% of lineups and had Whiteside (13.5x) in three.
The most profitable 150-maxer was me, uhhuhbro. I cashed 108 of 150 lineups for a profit of $51,323.27 and had a good time to boot. I took second and fourth place; my best lineup used $49,400 salary and a cumulative team ownership of 155.6%.
Miscellaneous
Boom of the slate goes to Whiteside who put up 58 fantasy points for $4,300 (13.5x) at 3.2% ownership. Bust goes to Cousins, who delivered 21.25 fantasy points for $6,200 at 32.1% ownership.
Two hundred and seven lineups were reserved and not played. The lowest-owned lineup that cashed (min-cashed) featured a cumulative team ownership of 28.9%:
The lowest-salary team that cashed (min-cashed) used $43,800 team salary:
The best lineup possible would have scored a 450.25 and would have won this GPP by 14.5 points:
