Last night was a massive 10-game NBA Daily Fantasy slate. There was plenty of news with surprise starting lineups and late-swap opportunities. I think that should be great edge for serious players, but my results were horrible and only a handful of 150-maxers made a profit. I even entered more lineups close to lock imagining that I knew what was going on. DraftKings’ main NBA Daily Fantasy GPP was the NBA $600K Shootaround, $20 to enter, $150,000 to first. Let’s get right into the NBA daily fantasy lineup review.

In this NBA DraftKings GPP, 35,294 total entries came from 11,944 different DFS players, 2,378(20%) of which made a profit. That means 80% of DFS players who entered this GPP lost money. DraftKings got back in the saddle, making $105,880 for running this GPP while paying $2,000 to the ninth- and 10th-place winners.
The Winner
Congratulations to Gernardi for taking this GPP down with a 406, clearing the second-place challenger by 33.5 points. We rarely see such a disparity between first and second place scores. The winner entered eight lineups, cashing seven for a profit of $150,535. The winning lineup used all $50,000 salary and had a cumulative team ownership of 105.6%. Where do I begin with all the low owned plays that hit in this lineup? I guess the best place is Danilo Gallinari, Victor Oladipo, Kyle Kuzma and a late swap to Kent Bazemore, surely. Any slate that Gallinari crushes on is not going to be a good one for me.

Salary and Ownership
Eight of the top 50 finishers used less than $49,700. Here are the top salaries used last night:

The most popular optimal lineup was played 99 times, using only $49,700 team salary and having a cumulative team ownership of 270.8%. This lineup scored a 299.5 and did not cash.
The 150-Maxers
Sixty-five 150-maxers played last night, entering 9,750 lineups and making up 27.6% of entries in this tournament. Only five made a profit, while 18 cashed fewer than 20 lineups. All told, it was a poor showing for 150-maxers because I always expect more from the pros during slates like this. Said 150-maxers still finished fourth, fifth, eighth and ninth.
The most profitable 150-maxer was rbx88, who put up a 371 thanks to Kuzma and Mason Plumlee. He still only cashed 33 lineups but made a nice profit of $18,285.
Miscellaneous
Boom of the slate goes to Rodney McGruder, a $3,000 Piston who put up 37.25 fantasy points (12.4x) at 0% ownership. He was played in three lineups. T.J. McConnell went 11.2x for the 73 lineups that rostered him. Bust of the slate, let’s give that to Kristaps Porzingis. He was the worst performing player owned more than 20%. He put up 37.75 fantasy points for $8,200 (4.6x) at 25.4% ownership.
Only 73 lineups were reserved and not played. The lowest-owned lineup that cashed (min-cashed) featured cumulative team ownership of only 21.2%.
