NBA Daily Fantasy Picks: Awesemo Grades | March 29

Center: Robert Williams

DraftKings Grades: B, Values: C

FanDuel Grades: B, Values: A

Since taking over as Boston’s starting center with Daniel Theis out of town and Tristan Thompson still isolating from the team, Williams has provided 39.1 DraftKings points per game. He has produced a ridiculous 5.5 defensive stats per game, and the only problem has been the Celtics have been so effective with Williams in the first unit that they have run away with back-to-back wins, limiting his and the other starters’ playing time. The 26.3 minutes per game Williams has obtained in these last two is an obvious upgrade from when he was a reserve, but he should log roughly 30 minutes when the Celtics are in a close tilt, like Vegas is projecting for Monday night.

Oddsmakers have the Celtics as a slight 2.5-point favorite over the Pelicans, to go along with a 229.5 total, which is the fourth highest of this 11-game slate. Barring bad foul trouble, which hasn’t been a problem for Williams as of late, he should receive around 30 minutes against a New Orleans defense that has yielded the ninth-most DraftKings points per game to opposing centers. Williams is averaging 41.7 DraftKings points per game when he eclipses 25 minutes this season, and this may be one of the final times he will be under $7,000 on either DraftKings or FanDuel this year.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 11.1%, FanDuel 13.3%

Power Forward: Jayson Tatum

DraftKings Grades: B, Values: C

FanDuel Grades: B, Values: B

Tonight newly acquired Evan Fournier will make his Celtics debut, but they will have to face the Pelicans without All-Star Jaylen Brown on top of Thompson, Semi Ojeleye and Romeo Langford. There is 146 minutes-worth of data for Tatum being on the floor without Brown, Thompson, Ojeleye, Langford and Theis this season, and he has handled a team-high 38.8% usage rate in this specific scenario, lifting him to an elite 1.51 DraftKings points per minute.

Even with Fournier active, Tatum should have an expanded role against the Pelicans, who have the league’s third-worst defensive rating. Additionally, Tatum has benefited greatly from Williams joining him in the starting five, amassing 49.1 DraftKings points per game in these last two since the trade deadline, and he posted 51.3 DraftKings points against New Orleans earlier this season. At a reasonable price points on both sites, Tatum will be one of the building blocks for this massive slate.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 4.7%, FanDuel 8.2%

Center: Moses Brown

DraftKings Grades: B, Values: B

FanDuel Grades: B, Values: A

Following his 50.25 DraftKings points against the Celtics on Saturday, Brown signed a multi-year contract extension with the Thunder on Sunday. Al Horford was inactive for Saturday’s loss, and the team has decided that they will not play him for the remainder of the 2020-21 season as they focus on their younger players, and more specifically Brown.

Competitive game or blowout, Brown should see close to 30 minutes for the rest of the season, and Monday night presents a strong spot for him to record another large double-double. The Mavericks and their soft frontcourt have been exposed for the eighth-most DraftKings points per game by opposing centers over their last 10. Brown is supplying 37.1 DraftKings points per game when he has earned a start this year, and a two-center stack of Williams and Brown on DraftKings tonight makes a lot of sense.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 16.4%, FanDuel 18.0%

Small Forward: Kawhi Leonard

DraftKings Grades: A, Values: B

FanDuel Grades: A, Values: B

Until Rajon Rondo is ready to return from his groin injury, the Clippers are going to be using a very tight rotation. To acquire Rondo, Los Angeles sent Lou Williams to the Hawks, and Patrick Beverley (knee) and Serge Ibaka (back) will remain sidelined for Los Angeles on Monday. With his team lacking depth, Leonard should land in the 35- to 40-minute range tonight against the Bucks considering the spread is only 2 points in favor of the Clippers. Furthermore, both of these clubs ranking inside the top five in offensive rating this year, and this matchup’s total is set at 231.5 points.

Obviously this is an outstanding tilt to attack for DFS purposes, and in the one Clippers game that featured a spread under 5 and a total greater than 230 points this season, Leonard delivered 59.5 DraftKings points against the Nets. It also helps that the Clippers will be at home, where Leonard has generated 5.2 more DraftKings points per game this season. Milwaukee has also been terrible at defending small forwards, giving up the second-most DraftKings points per game to the position across their last 10. Leonard’s salary is elevated on FanDuel, but at a low $8,900 on DraftKings, this is an opportune time to target him.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 15.3%, FanDuel 14.3%
