NBA Daily Fantasy Picks: Optimizer & Ownership Projections

There is a large 10-game NBA fantasy slate tonight. With that, NBA DFS injury news will be a big part of tonight’s process. *Grades are ordered DraftKings, FanDuel. Initial grade indicates a player’s strength of output, with the value grade indicating their strength as a play in relation to their salary.

PG Anfernee Simons — Grades: B, C | Values: A, A

Damian Lillard is out for tonight’s game, and Anfernee Simons is expected to start. While he has been coming off the bench, Simons has been asked to play big minutes for Portland, showing they have trust in him. With so much usage out of the lineup with Lillard, C.J. McCollum and likely Jusuf Nurkic all out, someone needs to step up on the offensive end. Simons is among the top candidates to do that. Awesemo projects Simons to be second on the team in scoring tonight, and he is showing up as the best overall value play on DraftKings and the third best on FanDuel.

PG Dennis Smith Jr. — Grades: B, B | Values: A, A

For the same reason, Dennis Smith Jr. is viable tonight. He could be asked to fill the sixth man role for Portland, providing a much-needed spark off the short Trail Blazers bench. He has played well recently when starting. Now he will likely lead the second unit and be an aggressive role player when among the starters. Awesemo projects Smith to play 28 minutes tonight and has him slated to be the best overall value play on FanDuel.

SF Anthony Edwards — Grades: B, B | Values: B, B

The pricing discrepancy is large between the two sites tonight, so make sure to check out the Awesemo Boom/Bust Tool. However, Anthony Edwards is another solid play for both sites. His price has decreased thanks to an eight-turnover game his last time out. However, was able to play 38 minutes, which suggests he is all the way back following his absence. He should continue his solid play and hopefully limit his turnovers tonight.

SG Desmond Bane — Grades: B, B | Values: B, B

Playing the Nets tonight, the Grizzlies need offense. With Dillon Brooks, De’Anthony Melton and Kyle Anderson all possibly out, they will need offense even more. Desmond Bane has stepped up to the plate and delivered big performances this season, and he has a strong opportunity to do it once again tonight. He has averaged 22.6 points over his past six games, and Awesemo projects him to be second on the team in scoring tonight.
