NBA Daily Fantasy Picks: Awesemo Grades | Feb. 22

Point Guard: John Wall

DraftKings Grades: A, Values: A

FanDuel Grades: A, Values: A

Victor Oladipo (doubtful, foot) and Christian Wood (ankle) will both be out tonight for Houston, and there is a chance DeMarcus Cousins (questionable, heel) also sits. In five of his last seven starts, Wall has played without Oladipo and Wood, helping him score 42 DraftKings points per game. In these contests, Wall’s usage has been at an extremely high level at 38%, and Wall has also looked very healthy lately, logging at least 34 minutes in four of his past five.

We can safely project him to get in the 35- to 40-minute range again tonight, with the Bulls only favored by 1 point over the Rockets. This is the tightest spread on the slate, and this contest’s total is also at a healthy 227 points. The Bulls have been susceptible to point guards this season, giving up the eighth-most DraftKings points per game to the position, and Vegas is expecting a very successful night for Wall; his prop line sits at 25 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. This translates to 41.75 DraftKings points before defensive stats are attributed, which is right over 5x value. Wall is an excellent target for all formats tonight, and he could see an extra boost if Cousins is inactive.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 35.2%, FanDuel 25.2%

Center: Mike Muscala

DraftKings Grades: D, Values: C

FanDuel Grades: D, Values: D

With this being the second night of a back-to-back, the Thunder are expected to be without the services of staring center Al Horford. Horford hasn’t played two games in two nights this season, and his absence opens the door for Isaiah Roby and Muscala to gain more playing time. In preparation for this situation, DraftKings and FanDuel increased Roby’s price, but Muscala remains cheap on both sites. Muscala will come off the bench, but as the primary backup center, he will be needed for 20 to 25 minutes. The last time Horford got the night off was just this past Wednesday, and Muscala recorded 26.75 DraftKings points across 26.1 minutes against the Grizzlies.

For the season Muscala is averaging 0.96 DraftKings points per minute and has cracked 20 minutes 10 times. He has supplied 23.7 DraftKings points per game with the extra work, and Muscala should outproduce both his DraftKings and FanDuel salaries tonight despite facing a top-10 defense in the Heat.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 5.5%, FanDuel 3.0%

Point Guard: Chris Paul

DraftKings Grades: B, Values: C

FanDuel Grades: B, Values: B

It’s rather shocking, but fantasy-wise, Paul has been significantly better than Devin Booker recently. If we exclude the one contest that Paul has missed in February, he is scoring 41.9 DraftKings points per game this month, compared to 34.4 for Booker. But still, Paul is the cheaper option on both DraftKings and FanDuel for tonight’s juicy matchup against the Trail Blazers. In total, Paul is generating an effective 1.28 DraftKings points per minute for the month of February, and this tilt against the Blazers presents a high total of 227.5 points.

Paul has suited up for six games totaled at least 225 points this season, and he has averaged 43.75 DraftKings points per game in this type of environment. Portland ranks third-to-last in defensive efficiency, and I love attacking the potentially low-owned Paul in GPPs on Monday night. In all 10 games this month, he has garnered a main DraftKings ownership of less than 10%.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 10.6%, FanDuel 14.8%

Point Guard: Russell Westbrook

DraftKings Grades: A, Values: B

FanDuel Grades: A, Values: A

With LeBron James and Luka Doncic earning most of the attention tonight, Westbrook is the perfect GPP pivot. It took some time, but he is finally playing at an elite level again. Westbrook has recorded three straight triple-doubles and provided 56.9 DraftKings points per game. He is clearly feeling the best he has this season health-wise, playing both legs of his last back-to-back set and handling 38.2 minutes per game over his most recent two.

Both of these games were decided by single digits, and this meeting with the Lakers tonight should stay close from start to finish (Lakers -6.5). As winners of four consecutive games, the Wizards are currently riding their longest win streak of the year, and Los Angeles has been struggling with Anthony Davis (Achilles) out of the lineup, dropping back-to-back games. Westbrook should play into the high-30s tonight, and I am expecting the star to extend his triple-double streak to four in a row, with a minimum of 50 fantasy points.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 12.0%, FanDuel 19.9%
