NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

DeMarcus Cousins vs. Pistons: $4,500/$4,400

73.4% DraftKings Boom/76.5% FanDuel Boom

Cousins is the best play of the season to this point. He is a lock, and I am on planning on having 100% exposure to tonight. The only way this changes is if the Rockets’ game is unexpectedly canceled or Cousins injures himself prior to the game. Outside of these unlikely scenarios, roster Cousins. He is set to play a big role for Houston tonight because Christian Wood is out with an ankle injury. While he isn’t the player he once was, Cousins still averages nearly 1.5 fantasy points per minute and will likely push for close to 30 minutes tonight. It is hard to envision a scenario where he fails.

Jalen Brunson vs. Spurs: $4,700/$3,900

20.7% DraftKings Boom/41.4% FanDuel Boom

Brunson is a stronger play on FanDuel due to his $3,900 price tag, but he’s a player to get exposure to on both sites. Dallas is dealing with a handful of players missing, and this has led to Brunson starting in the last couple of games. Maxi Kleber, Josh Richardson, Dwight Powell and Dorian Finney-Smith are all out because of health-and-safety protocols. Starting last game, Brunson played 34 minutes. Averaging just under a fantasy point per minute, the salary is to cheap for Brunson, who I project for over 30 minutes tonight. Dallas will have to lean on him until players return from the COVID protocols.

Kemba Walker vs. 76ers: $7,400/$7,000

27% DraftKings Boom/29.9% FanDuel Boom

At first I was surprised how well Walker grades out this morning. This is only his third game of the season as he works his way back from a knee injury, and he didn’t play well in his first couple of games. With that said, there are positive to take away from his first two outings. With Jayson Tatum out, Walker is soaking up a ton of usage thus far. His 39.3% usage shows that he is aggressive and looking to create his own offense. Eventually these shots will fall at a higher clip. There is also positive news here from a playing-time standpoint. Walker is getting his minutes restriction lifted to 25-28 minutes. With his price down, usage up and minutes rising, I am cautiously optimistic about Walker’s outlook.

NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Andre Drummond vs. Nets: $9,400/$8,600

60.4% DraftKings Bust/33.9% FanDuel Bust

Even with Drummond’s salary down, there isn’t enough minutes security here for me to trust him. Now that Cavaliers acquired Jarrett Allen from the Nets, the playing time is up in the air. Cleveland ran the center rotation as a timeshare last game, so I have minutes split as 24/24 for the two centers. They didn’t share the court at all and took turns getting minutes. Until the Cavaliers make a trade and offload Drummond, rostering him or Allen isn’t likely to pay off.
