NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Nikola Vucevic vs. Raptors: $8,800/$8,200

45.3% DraftKings Boom/42.7% FanDuel Boom

The DFS community is decimated since we can’t roster Aaron Gordon anymore. He’s out for an extended period of time due to an ankle injury, but fear not. The silver lining is that we have one of his teammates to roster. Without Gordon in the lineup, Vucevic has the highest boom rating on FanDuel and DraftKings. When Gordon is off the court this season, Vucevic leads the Magic with a 32.3% usage rate and also sees a bump in rebounding numbers. Since Markelle Fultz also got hurt earlier in the season, Orlando is now very reliant on its All-Star center to carry the team.

Eric Paschall vs. Celtics: $3,500/$3,500

22.5% DraftKings Boom/27.9% FanDuel Boom

James Wiseman was finally starting to come on for the Warriors, and then he got injured last game. This wrist injury is going to keep him off the court for a few games. Kevon Looney was already starting in place of Wiseman, although I don’t think he picks up a ton of extra minutes. Instead, I expect extra work to go towards Paschall. He should play a few extra minutes while also seeing increased usage on the second unit without Wiseman available. Paschall opened the season as a rough chalk play, although he’s played better as of late. He’s scoring nearly a fantasy point per minute and looks like one of the stronger value on the slate.

Enes Kanter vs. Wizards: $7,000/$6,900

21.9% DraftKings Boom/29% FanDuel Boom

Don’t read too much into the playing time from the Blazers game last night. They got torched by the Bucks, and the playing time was limited for the starters because of the back-to-back situation. At least the blowout from last night will leave Portland a bit more rested for tonight’s game than if the game was tight and everybody played full minutes. In the frontcourt this team is still dealing with a ton of injuries, which solidifies the role for Kanter in close games. Jusuf Nurkic remains out in addition to Derrick Jones, while Nassir Little is also questionable to play. This limits the amount of options that Portland has to play small and should solidify the workload for Kanter in a positive matchup against the Wizards.

NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Gorgui Dieng vs. Pacers: $5,300/$4,700

87.8% DraftKings Bust/88.5% FanDuel Bust

Dieng played extremely well in the two games since the Grizzlies returned from their long COVID layoff. Benefiting from extra playing time with Jonas Valanciunas out, Dieng scored over 30 fantasy points in back-to-back games. He should still continue to get additional playing time, but his price has gone up and I don’t quite buy into the production. Dieng is piling up defensive stats and isn’t carrying much usage. He’s getting by with incredible efficiency, and his shooting numbers have to regress a bit. I still think Memphis will prioritize Xavier Tillman in the rotation as long as he avoids foul trouble.
