DraftKings & FanDuel NBA Daily Fantasy Picks Based on Awesemo Grades & Values | 1/18

Welcome back, everyone. For the night slate of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there are four NBA games on tap, and below are some of my favorite NBA daily fantasy picks for both FanDuel and DraftKings based on Awesemo’s grades and values.

NBA Daily Fantasy Picks: Awesemo Grades | Jan. 18

Center: Christian Wood

DraftKings Grades: A, Values: A

FanDuel Grades: A, Values: A

With James Harden traded to Brooklyn, Wood has been an absolute fantasy stud for the Rockets, scoring 56.4 DraftKings points per game across his last two. He has seen at least 34 minutes of work in two straight and is now producing 46.1 DraftKings points per game in the eight he has eclipsed 30 minutes since joining Houston this past offseason.

For Monday night, Wood will be in Chicago facing a Bulls defense that is the fourth-worst group in the NBA based on efficiency. They have given up an average of 52 points in the paint per game across their last three, and Vegas is expecting Wood to destroy this weak interior defense. His current prop line is slating the center for 24 points, 12 rebounds and two assists, which equates to 43.5 DraftKings points before defensive stats are credited. Wood is the only player to carry an A Awesemo Grade and Value on both DraftKings and FanDuel tonight, making him a building block for all formats.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 29.5% FanDuel 22.5%

Shooting Guard: Eric Gordon

DraftKings Grades: B, Values: A

FanDuel Grades: C, Values: A

Gordon (leg) has missed the last two but will make his return tonight against this soft Bulls defense. With Harden now a Net, Gordon should handle a large usage rate tonight as arguably the Rocket’s third-best option after Wood and newcomer Victor Oladipo. In the lone contest Gordon was active for without Harden this season, he put up 34.75 DraftKings points with a 27.6% usage rate against a stout Mavericks defense (fourth in efficiency). This was the fourth time Gordon has played sans Harden over the last two years, and the shooting guard is supplying 39.9 DraftKings points per game without the superstar.

Additionally, if we just look at when Gordon has seen 30 minutes or more, he is generating 30 DraftKings points per game in his past 10. As for this matchup against the Bulls, not only are they a disaster defensively, but they are allowing the fifth-most made 3-pointers per game in 2020-21. Gordon is averaging 7.7 attempts from beyond the arc this year, and he should light them up for over 30 fantasy points tonight. Per Awesemo’s projections, the 32-year-old is the top points-per-dollar value of the night on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 40.9% FanDuel 33.4%

Center: Chris Boucher

DraftKings Grades: B, Values: C

FanDuel Grades: B, Values: C

His salary on FanDuel is correct, but on DraftKings Boucher is still vastly underpriced, and his forward eligibility makes him extremely valuable for this small slate. In the Raptors’ last five, the 28-year-old has excelled as their primary center, producing 42.6 DraftKings points per game. Boucher may not start, but his playing time has been at 29.1 minutes per game during this span. With the Raptors as winners of two straight, the big man should receive roughly 30 minutes again on Monday when they host the Mavericks.

This Dallas defense ranks fourth in efficiency, but they are still vulnerable in the paint, giving up the eighth-most DraftKings points per game to opposing centers. Boucher could easily post over 40 fantasy points in this spot, and we have to keep attacking him on DraftKings before his price catches up with his immense production.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 16.7% FanDuel 6.7%

Center: DeAndre Jordan

DraftKings Grades: C, Values: A

FanDuel Grades: C, Values: A

With Jarrett Allen now in Cleveland, the Nets are fully committed to Jordan as their starting center. In these past two since Allen was dealt, Jordan has averaged 23.6 DraftKings points in 25.7 minutes per game. Twenty to twenty-five minutes should be the norm for the veteran going forward, which is plenty of time for Jordan to produce solid numbers. This season, the 32-year-old is contributing 0.96 DraftKings per minute, and in the past 20 that he has surpassed 20 minutes, Jordan is amassing 28.6 DraftKings points per game.

His Vegas prop line is projects him for a near double-double of 8 points, 10 rebounds and two assists tonight against the Bucks (23.5 DraftKings points before defensive stats), and Jordan is the best cheap way to gain exposure to this gigantic game total between the Nets and Bucks. As of Monday afternoon, this tilt sports an over/under of 239 points, which is the high mark of the slate by a significant 12.5 points.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 23.3% FanDuel 23.2%
