DraftKings + FanDuel Boom/Bust Projections | Jan. 23
NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom CandidatesÂ
Luka Doncic vs. Rockets: $10,700/$10,800
33.4% DraftKings Boom/37.5% FanDuel Boom
After a slow start to the season, Luka Doncic has been great during the month of January. During this month, he has averaged 28 points, 11.7 rebounds, 11 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.9 blocks per game. Despite exceeding value last game and having one of the best possible against the Rockets, Luka has actually seen his salary drop. He put up a triple-double in two of the three meetings with Houston last season. Luka has also accomplished this feat in two of the last four games. This looks to be a good price for potentially the top scorer on the slate.
DeMarcus Cousins vs. Mavericks: $5,100/$4,900
48.9% DraftKings Boom/59.3% FanDuel Boom
Christian Wood is currently deemed doubtful to play tonight, after suffering an ankle injury two games ago. Without Wood last night, DeMarcus Cousins entered the starting lineup and played 32 minutes. He certainly made the most of his increased opportunity. Cousins finished the game with only five points, but he also totaled 15 rebounds, seven assists and two blocks. At a low price, last night proved that Cousins can smash value. He also showed just how high his ceiling is, since he was a great play despite only five points scored.

Eric Gordon vs. Mavericks: $6,000/$5,200
18.0% DraftKings Boom/37.1% FanDuel Boom
This seems like a great game to target for NBA DFS today. Eric Gordon is a mid-tier option that has a probability to exceed value. With James Harden, Christian Wood and John Wall off the floor this season, Gordon has had a 28.7% usage rate (+3.7%), averaging 0.94 DraftKings points and 0.87 FanDuel points per minute. While Gordon has been scoring well, his rebounding and steals have been low. However, Dallas allows the eighth-most rebounds, so there is a chance he contributes more than points today, leading to a well-rounded DFS performance.
NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates
Will Barton vs. Suns: $5,700/$6,100
73.7% DraftKings Bust/70.3% FanDuel Bust
The matchup with the Phoenix Suns is middle of the road for Will Barton. What raises his bust probability is the return of Michael Porter Jr., while keeping Barton’s price steady. He has been a bust in three straight games, including a matchup with Phoenix last game. Barton finished with 17 points, four rebounds and two assists. He has had a usage rate under 20% in five of his last six games. The improving health of the Denver lineup should lead to a slightly reducing workload, which makes him a high-risk, low-reward play, given the low usage already.
