Sunday, Oct. 24, brings a five-game main slate doing battle against Sunday Night Football. Let’s look at the player pool and discuss the top NBA DFS picks for DraftKings, FanDuel and Yahoo lineups. NBA DFS Picks: Building Blocks, Sunday, Oct. 24

Yahoo Play of the Day — Stephen Curry: Golden State Warriors at Sacramento Kings

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 52.14 | DraftKings: 56.41
  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 38.4% | FanDuel 44.3% | DraftKings 25.6%
  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $49 | FanDuel $10,200 | DraftKings $11,000

Stephen Curry and the Warriors are riding high after starting the season with a pair of victories. Tonight they are favored by a bucket on the road in Sacramento. It is very early in the season, but the Warriors are playing at the fastest pace in the league, with the Kings not far behind in fifth place. Curry opened the season with a triple-double against the Lakers, and two nights later he dropped 45 points on the Clippers. The usage and opportunities will be there, and gamers should look to him as one of the best fantasy producers of the night.

Julius Randle: New York Knicks vs. Orlando Magic

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 39.44 | DraftKings: 41.89
  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 21.4% | FanDuel 18.9% | DraftKings 27.1%
  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $42 | FanDuel $9,500 | DraftKings $8,700

This is a home-and-home matchup, with the Knicks besting the Magic 121-96 in Orlando on Friday night. Even with New York leading by 22 points at the end of the third quarter, coach Tom Thibodeau still brought Julius Randle back in the game for two minutes in the fourth quarter, even with the Knicks in the middle of a 24-9 run. This is comforting for fantasy gamers, as it means Randle will consistently play 34 to 36 minutes, with the potential for more based on the whims of his sadistic coach.

Robert Williams: Boston Celtics at Houston Rockets

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 42.59 | DraftKings: 39.95
  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 39.0% | FanDuel 41.1% | DraftKings 42.1%
  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $25 | FanDuel $7,000 | DraftKings $6,100

Jaylen Brown has been ruled out on Sunday, and the Celtics are still favored by half a dozen on the road in Houston. Jayson Tatum will be a popular option, but gamers should also give strong consideration to Robert Williams. The matchup is a good one, and there should be plenty of rebounds, putbacks and other points in the paint available for him. There is significant fantasy upside available depending on how many blocks he can manage tonight. If he ends up with north of three, he could flirt with 45 to 50 Yahoo Fantasy points. Josh Richardson ($10) is likely to draw the start for Brown, and he is a phenomenal option at the Yahoo minimum salary.

Yahoo Daily Fantasy Basketball Discount Dandies

Tyrese Maxey: Philadelphia 76ers at Oklahoma City Thunder

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 31.59 | DraftKings: 31.46
  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 35.8% | FanDuel 30.3% | DraftKings 27.7%
  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $17 | FanDuel $5,800 | DraftKings $5,700

Ben Simmons is not going to play for at least a week, if he even plays again for Philadelphia. That gives the keys to the offense to Tyrese Maxey. The 76ers are nearly double-digit road favorites, and there is a chance that Joel Embiid will sit tonight with knee soreness. No matter how one looks at it, Maxey is going to continue to see 34 to 36 minutes, and there is a chance that he could reach 40 Yahoo points if he can luck into a couple steals.

De’Anthony Melton: Memphis Grizzlies at Los Angeles Lakers

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 28.7 | DraftKings: 28.66
  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 37.8% | FanDuel 26.1% | DraftKings 52.8%
  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $10 | FanDuel $5,300 | DraftKings $4,200

Despite two strong performances, De’Anthony Melton continues to be overlooked by the various DFS salary algorithms. While this is not the best matchup against the Lakers, the salary is very forgiving across the board. Memphis played the Clippers last night, and though this is a back-to-back, they did not have to travel, and this is only their third game of the season. Desmond Bane is also in play as a bargain option on the two-game late slate.

Final Thoughts on NBA DFS picks for the Sunday, Oct. 24 Slate

Be sure to get in contests soon, as they are not very large tonight going up against NFL Sunday. Other gamers also may not be doing their usual research, and that means there could be some less-than-savvy plays and lineup constructions. Keep in mind that salaries and scoring formats differ across the various fantasy sites, and a slam-dunk play on Yahoo may be a below-average NBA DFS pick on DraftKings or FanDuel.
