NBA DFS Picks: Building Blocks, Tuesday, Nov. 16
Yahoo Play of the Day — Stephen Curry: Golden State Warriors at Brooklyn Nets
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 47.69 | DraftKings: 50.02
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 22.0% | FanDuel 28.3% | DraftKings 24.5%
- DFS Salary: Yahoo $50 | FanDuel $10,800 | DraftKings $10,900
In his age-34 season Stephen Curry has continued to be sublime. Currently he has five-year highs in rebounding, assists, steals and blocks, along with a 95.5% free throw percentage. This has led to 1.46 Yahoo points per minute, which is right in line with his performance during his 2015-16 MVP season.
Tobias Harris: Philadelphia 76ers at Utah Jazz
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 36.29 | DraftKings: 37.9
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 36.6% | FanDuel 40.8% | DraftKings 20.9%
- DFS Salary: Yahoo $31 | FanDuel $,7700 | DraftKings $8,500
After missing 10 days with COVID, Tobias Harris has played 37 and 35 minutes in the two games since returning to action. Joel Embiid and Matisse Thybulle are both still in the health and safety protocol, and Danny Green (hamstring) has already been ruled out for tonight. While this game is at altitude, with Salt Lake City having the second-highest elevation of any NBA homecourt, there are only six teams in the player pool, which is boosting the popularity of Harris. One other thing to consider is that Utah is right around the league average for both pace and defensive efficiency, which should help the 76ers’ fantasy prospects tonight.
Dejounte Murray: San Antonio Spurs at Los Angeles Clippers
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 43.07 | DraftKings: 43.41
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 32.4% | FanDuel 21.8% | DraftKings 17.3%
- DFS Salary: Yahoo $38 | FanDuel $9,800 | DraftKings $9,500
Dejounte Murray has been phenomenal in his last 10 games, averaging 34.6 minutes and 17.6 field goal attempts on which he has an excellent 47.2% success rate. In this stretch Murray has tallied 19.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 2.6 combined blocks and steals per game. This works out to just over 47 Yahoo points per minute. The Clippers are a solid defensive squad, though with Murray’s ability to contribute across the box score, he has a solid fantasy baseline.
Murray will be a popular option tonight, and for good reason, which Adam Strangis broke down in his NBA DFS Slate Starter article for Tuesday’s slate.
Yahoo Daily Fantasy Basketball Discount Dandies
Brooklyn Nets vs. Golden State Warriors
Joe Harris (ankle) is not available for Tuesday night, which means extra minutes and opportunities will be available. After a sluggish start to the season, Harris has worked his way back to a production level that is similar to last season. He is vacating around 30 minutes, 8.9 field goal attempts, and half a dozen combined rebounds, assists and steals. Some combination of Patty Mills and Bruce Brown are the likely options to fill this void. Keep in mind that Jevon Carter is around and plays better defense than this duo if someone is needed to harass Curry. Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge could also see more secure opportunity. If this were anything other than a three-game slate, none of these players would get a look.
San Antonio Spurs at Los Angeles Clippers
Drew Eubanks, Doug McDermott, Lonnie Walker IV and Devin Vassell are all at similar or cheaper salaries on Yahoo as compared to their Brooklyn counterparts. Vassell and Walker are far better options than any of the Nets discount dandies, and Eubanks and McDermott are comparable. It is going to be a fun puzzle putting together the right bargain options from the low end of the salary list and then working in the more productive players towards the top.
Final Thoughts on NBA DFS picks for the Tuesday, Nov. 16 Slate
Tonight there is a major gap between the first game and the remaining two, which both tip off after 10 p.m. ET. Keep in mind that salaries and scoring formats differ across the various fantasy sites, and a slam-dunk play on Yahoo may be a below-average NBA DFS pick on DraftKings or FanDuel.
