The NBA may have stopped but that doesn’t mean we don’t have e-sports contests! FanDuel has kept it going with contests every night. Here are Sam Smith’s TOP NBA DFS Picks.
Here’s what we’re doing: over the next few weeks, we’re giving away $20,000+ in prizes in FREE TO PLAY contests based on simulated NBA DFS games that will air on YouTube and Twitch streams involving your favorite Awesemo personalities. And it all starts today. FanDuel NBA DFS Sim Sports Rules
- Players are randomly assigned stats from a game they played during the 2019-2020 season.
- Only players who have scored fantasy points in at least 15 games will be included in the pool.
- The opponent matchups in each slate are irrelevant for the simulations.
- Only games where players scored more than zero points will be available to be assigned stats, No DNPs or Late Scratches.
- Scoring Example: LeBron James draws a 23 – he will get assigned the stats and Fantasy Points from the 23rd game he played this season: 65.4. Each player will be assigned a different random game.
- Again listed matchups do not matter.
NBA DFS Picks: Top Tier
Damian Lillard
Lillard has the most upside on this slate thanks to his run in late January when he was putting 40-, 50- and 60-point games. He is priced accordingly at $10,200, but with a 47-fantasy-point average and a huge ceiling, Lillard has a strong chance to pay off that tag.
Kyrie Irving
The great thing about Irving in this contest is that he has such a limited sample size that there is a strong chance of him hitting value. He only played in 20 games this year, just over the 15-game minimum, and averaged 46.1 fantasy points a game in that time. Six times Irving recorded at least 60 fantasy points, so he has a 30 percent chance of putting up a huge total, making him great value at sub-$10,000.
Hassan Whiteside
Whiteside and Nikola Vucevic are nearly identical values considering Whiteside averaged about three fantasy points a game more but is also $300 more expensive. I am leaning Whiteside since he has a better chance of hitting 50-plus fantasy points and Vucevic has busted a bit more than Whiteside because he cannot match Whiteside’s peripherals.
Jayson Tatum
Tatum is a boom/bust play to an extent at his high-ish price of $8,300. He averaged 40.8 fantasy points a game, which is solid for his price range, but Tatum’s main draw is his post-All-Star Break run where he was getting to 50 fantasy points more consistently and hit 60 a couple of times. Decent 60-point upside in the low $8,000s is a worthwhile swing.
NBA DFS Picks: Mid Tier
LaMarcus Aldridge
Aldridge had one of his better fantasy outputs this year, even if the numbers do not look it on paper. He was over 40 fantasy points consistently, getting to 44 over 30 percent of the time and averaging 37 a game. He is liable to bust with fewer than 25 points in 10 games, but at mid-range pricing, he has a better chance of paying off.
C.J. McCollum
With Lillard missing a handful of games this year, McCollum had a couple stretches as Portland’s lead dog in his game logs. He recorded at least 35 FanDuel points 46.8 percent of the time and averaged 36.1 on the season.
Caris LeVert
LeVert was on a minutes limit for a long portion of the season which keeps his floor low, but he also had a handful of ceiling performances to point to here. In about half of his games, he produced at least 30 FanDuel points with a handful over 50.
NBA DFS Picks: Value Tier
Marquese Chriss
Chriss had a lot of games as the backup center, even getting third-stringer minutes sometimes, but he also started a number of games for Golden States. At only $4,600, that gives him a solid ceiling. He hit 30 fantasy points in about a quarter of games this season with five games of at least 40 points.
Damion Lee
Contrasting with his teammate Chriss, Lee was a consistent starter without a lot of variance this season. He averaged 24.7 fantasy points a game and did not waver off that mark a ton in either direction. At $4,900, he does not provide a massive ceiling, but also gives a good floor if you are just looking to fill out your lineups.
