The NBA may have stopped but that doesn’t mean we don’t have e-sports contests! FanDuel has kept it going with contests every night. Here are Sam Smith’s TOP NBA DFS Picks.
Here’s what we’re doing: over the next few weeks, we’re giving away $20,000+ in prizes in FREE TO PLAY contests based on simulated NBA DFS games that will air on YouTube and Twitch streams involving your favorite Awesemo personalities. And it all starts today. There will be Daily Contests where you are asked to predict aspects of the day’s simulated game. Get the most correct answers and you’ll be eligible for great prizes. Prizes will vary from day-to-day. Enter now (and every day) by clicking on the following link:

FanDuel NBA DFS Sim Sports Rules
- Players are randomly assigned stats from a game they played during the 2019-2020 season.
- Only players who have scored fantasy points in at least 15 games will be included in the pool.
- The opponent matchups in each slate are irrelevant for the simulations.
- Only games where players scored more than zero points will be available to be assigned stats, No DNPs or Late Scratches.
- Scoring Example: LeBron James draws a 23 – he will get assigned the stats and Fantasy Points from the 23rd game he played this season: 65.4. Each player will be assigned a different random game.
- Again listed matchups do not matter.
NBA DFS Picks: Top Tier
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Despite his enormous price tag of $11,400, Giannis is as safe a fantasy producer as there is in the league. He hit 60 fantasy points in 34.4 percent of games this season, and the small forward pool for today’s slate is middling at best. There are other stud values here so you don’t necessarily have to pay up for him, but there is a massive gap in production between Giannis and the next best small forward.
Luka Doncic
Doncic is a $600 discount to Giannis and is one of the very few players who is in the same realm of fantasy production. He has a 30.3 percent chance of hitting 60 fantasy points today compared to Giannis’ 34.4 percent, so you cannot go wrong playing either.
Kyrie Irving
The great thing about Irving in this contest is that he has such a limited sample size that there is a strong chance of him hitting value. He only played in 20 games this year, just over the 15-game minimum, and averaged 46.1 fantasy points a game in that time. Six times Irving recorded at least 60 fantasy points, so he has a 30 percent chance of putting up a huge total, making him great value at sub-$10,000.
Deandre Ayton
Ayton gets the nod over Nikola Jokic for me because he is a $900 discount but has nearly as good a chance at hitting value. Ayton, thanks to a smaller sample size, recorded 50 fantasy points in 30 percent of games, just a hair below Jokic’s 31.8 percent.
NBA DFS Picks: Mid Tier
Ricky Rubio
Rubio has a fairly high ceiling for a player in the middle price range with a high of 68.1 fantasy points, the same as teammate Devin Booker. Rubio got to 50 FanDuel points in 10.5 percent of games with an average of 34.4 points, making him solid value at $6,800.
Kristaps Porzingis
It is always prudent in this style of contest to target productive players who missed substantial time during the season as it lessens their sample size. Porzingis played in 51 games this year, a handful without Doncic, and he has a 29.4 percent chance of exceeding 50 fantasy points with a ceiling of 75.6.
Kelly Oubre
Oubre has the benefit of being reasonably priced at $6,500 while also providing a decent floor in a weak position group. With no top-tier players at small forward and middling value below him, Oubre is a safe play with a ceiling of 59.5 fantasy points.
NBA DFS Picks: Value Tier
Donte DiVincenzo
Like most in this pricing tier, DiVincenzo is fully boom/bust with plenty of sub-20-point efforts. However, he also had a few long stretches where either Eric Bledsoe or Khris Middleton missed and he got the start. He also has a surprisingly high number of games with strong peripherals even when he did not score, so there is decent chance of him exceeding his 22.5-point average and he is only $4,300.
Shabazz Napier
Napier is a low-floor player as he failed to reach 20 fantasy points in almost half of games playing for two teams. However, he has a decent chance of far exceeding his price point with at least 32.5 points in 25.4 percent of his games.
Troy Brown
Brown’s numbers are a bit more consistent than the other two Value picks here. He has a few more ceiling games sprinkled in, but he also had a run of a bunch of strong fantasy outings from December to mid-January when his playing time really kicked up as Detroit dealt with injuries. As such, he has a much better chance of hitting than many other low-priced players on this slate and he is comfortably priced at $4,300.
