NBA DFS Picks: FanDuel Simulation Games 4/15/20

The NBA may have stopped but that doesn’t mean we don’t have e-sports contests! FanDuel has kept it going with contests every night. Here are Sam Smith’s TOP NBA DFS Picks.

FanDuel NBA DFS Sim Sports Rules

FanDuel has changed up the format for these contests. Rather than randomly selecting a player’s stat line from a game in the 2019-20 season, FanDuel randomly assigns a game based on top-25 historical comparisons from 1999-2000. NumberFire has created an algorithm in partner with FanDuel to make said historical comparisons. Other than that, the process for the user is the same. Listed matchups do not matter and users have the same parameters for building lineups.

Now let’s get into some FanDuel Sim NBA DFS picks.

NBA DFS Picks: Top Tier

James Harden

He slumped to close out the season, but Harden had a ridiculous start to 2019-20 when he was averaging close to 40 real-life points a game. He also had a number of games where Russell Westbrook sat out, and Harden consistently put up strong numbers in those games. As such, he has a 38.7 percent chance of eclipsing 60 fantasy points, making him one of the safest best for production on any slate, despite a high price of $11,200.

Anthony Davis

Davis averaged 52 fantasy points a game this season and hit 60 fantasy points in nearly a quarter of games. As such, despite 30 percent of his outputs going below 45 points, he has a very good chance to pay off. He is a better play than teammate LeBron James because James only hit 60 in 16.4 percent of games and is $100 more expensive than Davis.

Karl-Anthony Towns

I have said it a lot, but it is often prudent to target low-sample players who put up big numbers. Towns fits that bill with only 35 games under his belt, 28 of which he scored at least 40 fantasy points. He averaged nearly 50 for the year and got to 50 in just under half his games. That makes him as close to a lock to produce as any on this slate, which helps because he is the most expensive center on this slate.

NBA DFS Picks: Mid Tier

Devonte’ Graham

Graham’s hot start to the season gives him a decent sample of games where he produced like a top-tier play. However, he crashed to earth later in the season, so his pricing is comfortably mid-tier at $6,700. He scored at least 40 fantasy points in 28.1 percent of games this season, giving him a great chance to hit his value. That said, with so many games of sub-par scoring, he could be a damper on lineups. Graham is a substantial boom/bust play for a mid-tier price.

Jonas Valanciunas

Like Graham, Valanciunas is about as boom/bust as mid-tier values get. He averaged 33.8 fantasy points a game, but also had a ceiling of 61.4 points (which he drew a couple weeks ago) and exceeded value in over a quarter of games. He can make or break your lineup, but Valanciunas is a game changer at $6,600.

Jonathan Isaac

Isaac’s fantasy value is largely tied to the weight of blocks and steals on FanDuel. Isaac averaged 32.9 fantasy points a game this year despite only being a 12-point scorer thanks to four combined steals/blocks. As a result, he hit 40 fantasy points in nearly a third of games this year, good value for $6,400.

NBA DFS Picks: Value Tier

Nemanja Bjelica

Bjelica is a potential make-or-break play on this slate. While his upside is not super high with only three games over 50 fantasy points in 64 tries, he hit his target score of 6x his $5,100 tag in 40.6 percent of games this year. So close to half the time, he more than paid off his price. Bjelica is not a massive risk but he could pay off in a big way if his target games hit tonight.

Damion Lee

Lee was a consistent starter without a lot of variance this season. He averaged 24.7 fantasy points a game and did not waver off that mark a ton in either direction. At $4,900, he does not provide a massive ceiling, but also gives a good floor if you are just looking to fill out your lineups.

Naz Reid

Reid rode the roller coaster with playing time and production this season, starting about a third of his 30 games. He was at or near 40 fantasy points in about 10 percent of those games, and he has a decent chance of multiplying his value sixfold, doing so in over a third of games.

Troy Brown

Brown’s numbers are a bit more consistent than other Value picks. He has a few more ceiling games sprinkled in, but he also had a run of a bunch of strong fantasy outings from December to mid-January when his playing time really kicked up as Washington dealt with injuries. As such, he has a much better chance of hitting than many other low-priced players on this slate and he is comfortably priced at $4,300.
