NBA DFS Picks: FanDuel Simulation Games for 4/2/20

The NBA may have stopped but that doesn’t mean we don’t have e-sports contests! FanDuel has kept it going with contests every night. Here are Sam Smith’s TOP NBA DFS Picks.

Here’s what we’re doing: over the next few weeks, we’re giving away $20,000+ in prizes in FREE TO PLAY contests based on simulated NBA DFS games that will air on YouTube and Twitch streams involving your favorite Awesemo personalities. And it all starts today. There will be Daily Contests where you are asked to predict aspects of the day’s simulated game. Get the most correct answers and you’ll be eligible for great prizes. Prizes will vary from day-to-day. Enter now (and every day) by clicking on the following link:

Through April 3, we’ll also be running a $15,000 Bracket Challenge with $10,000 to first. You’ve made your bracket picks and if you get the highest score you could walk away with $10,000. Tonight we have a battle between the  and the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors. Click here to enter.

And don’t forget, FANDUEL is running a FREEROLL contest based off the Awesemo Sim for tonight’s game. To get in, just follow THIS LINK.

Additional details regarding both the $15,000 Bracket Challenge and the Daily Contests, including full Terms and Conditions, are available here: http://https://bit.ly/FanDueleNBA. Thank you for supporting us and we’re thrilled to have this opportunity to give something back. We aren’t going anywhere and hope you feel the same.

FanDuel NBA DFS Sim Sports Rules

  • Players are randomly assigned stats from a game they played during the 2019-2020 season.
  • Only players who have scored fantasy points in at least 15 games will be included in the pool.
  • The opponent matchups in each slate are irrelevant for the simulations.
  • Only games where players scored more than zero points will be available to be assigned stats, No DNPs or Late Scratches.
  • Scoring Example: LeBron James draws a 23 – he will get assigned the stats and Fantasy Points from the 23rd game he played this season: 65.4. Each player will be assigned a different random game.
  • Again listed matchups do not matter.

NBA DFS Picks: Top Tier

Karl-Anthony Towns

I have said it a lot, but it is often prudent to target low-sample players who put up big numbers. Towns fits that bill with only 35 games under his belt, 28 of which he scored at least 40 fantasy points. He averaged nearly 50 for the year and got to 50 in just under half his games. That makes him as close to a lock to produce as any on this slate, and he is not even the most expensive player today.

Damian Lillard

Lillard has some of the best upside on this slate thanks to his run in late January when he was putting 40-, 50- and 60-point games. He is priced accordingly at $10,200, but with a 47-fantasy-point average and a huge ceiling, Lillard has a strong chance to pay off that tag.

Hassan Whiteside

Whiteside and Nikola Vucevic are nearly identical values considering Whiteside averaged about three fantasy points a game more but is also $300 more expensive. I am leaning Whiteside since he has a better chance of hitting 50-plus fantasy points and Vucevic has busted a bit more than Whiteside because he cannot match Whiteside’s peripherals.

NBA DFS Picks: Mid Tier

C.J. McCollum

With Lillard missing a handful of games this year, McCollum had a couple stretches as Portland’s lead dog in his game logs. He recorded at least 35 FanDuel points 46.8 percent of the time and averaged 36.1 on the season.

Jonas Valanciunas

Valanciunas is about as boom/bust as mid-tier values get. He averaged 33.8 fantasy points a game, but also had a ceiling of 61.4 points (which he drew in Saturday’s FanDuel Sim Contest) and exceeded value in over a quarter of games. He can make or break your lineup, but Valanciunas is a game changer at $6,600.

Ja Morant

Morant rides the extremes just as his teammate Valanciunas does. In his rookie season, Morant had explosions of double-double and high-scoring games, but he also had a handful of games with single-digit fantasy production. As such, his play at $6,300 is a 50-50 proposition, but could pay off as he had a handful of 50-point games sprinkled in.

NBA DFS Picks: Value Tier

Jordan McRae

Bradley Beal missed some time this season and in those games, McRae took over as Washington’s top scoring option. He played only 37 games this year, but topped 30 fantasy points in seven and even topped 40 points a few times. As such, he has a lot of upside at just $4,100.

Jordan McLaughlin

McLaughlin is the ultimate in hit-or-miss in the value tier. At just $3,800, he has a one-in-five chance of exceeding his value nearly tenfold, but he also recorded single-digit fantasy points more than a quarter of the time. He is a lineup filler with a strong ceiling but a basement-level floor.
