NBA DFS Picks: Prime Time Players

Giannis Antetokounmpo: Milwaukee Bucks vs. Charlotte Hornets

DraftKings $11,800, FanDuel $12,400, Yahoo $58 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 40.0%, FanDuel 54.1% Yahoo Fantasy 45.6%

The decision tonight comes down to James Harden vs Atlanta or Giannis Antetokoumpo. Both are phenomenal players and worthy of the Prime Time Player designation. Each team is at home with the Rockets double digit favorites against the Hawks who lost by one in overtime last night in Indiana to the Pacers. The Bucks will be hosting the Hornets who won a spirited game in Detroit last night 110-107.

On FanDuel, Giannis is more expensive, but the small forward position is pretty barren with only six teams in our player pool. The other slight boost that Giannis gets in my opinion is that we can still roll with Russell Westbrook in the Houston game and work the reigning MVP into our lineup as well. For me, that is enough to tip the scales if I were building just one lineup. The Beard and The Freak are separated by $200 on DraftKings and the same price on Yahoo tonight.

For the record, it is hard to find fault with either of these fantasy stalwarts.

NBA DFS Picks: Good Value

Ben McLemore: Houston Rockets vs. Atlanta Hawks

DraftKings $3,500, FanDuel $3,700, Yahoo $10 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 62.5%, FanDuel 49.0% Yahoo Fantasy 62.1%

There is a strong likelihood that both Clint Capela and Danuel House Jr. will be out tonight with the flu. If House is out, McLemore should draw the start and more importantly gain additional access to minutes and field goal attempts. In his four starts this season, McLemore is averaging 23 fantasy points which is a solid return for his near minimum price point across the industry.

NBA DFS Picks: Risky Value

De’Andre Hunter:  Atlanta Hawks at Houston Rockets

DraftKings $4,700, FanDuel $5,000, Yahoo $17 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 34.4%, FanDuel 36.5% Yahoo Fantasy 32.2%

The upside is limited with Hunter who has averaged 37.8 minutes per game in his last three appearances, with only 14.4 fantasy points per game. He is averaging 0.67 fantasy points per minute which would be fine if his price was near the minimum, however it is not on any site. He has topped 20+ fantasy points in eight of 19 games and 30+ fantasy points just twice. If he costs me a victory tonight, so be it.

FantasyCruncher Tip of the Day

Use promo code PRIMETIME to receive 50% off any one-month premium subscription (including FantasyCruncher options).

With the incredibly user-friendly FantasyCruncher, we can take our lineup construction to the next level.

Tonight with just six teams in the player pool, I want to make sure I limit the number of “bad” value plays that end up on my lineup.

To accomplish this, I have created a group of players that will be in my pool, but that I do not see the upside of having more than one in each of my lineups.

If you go this route, you will want to test it out and make sure this is not too limiting with your overall roster construction. If you classify too many in this group, you may need to set this limit at two.

Additionally you could created a couple different player pools with different levels of risk.

Final Thoughts

Though there are only four games on Saturday, Atlanta, Charlotte, Indiana, Milwaukee and Philadelphia are all playing back-to-backs. Be sure to tune into Live Before Lock with Fast Eddie Fear on the Awesemo YouTube channel at 6pm ET tonight.
