NBA DFS Picks: Prime Time Players

Luka Doncic: Dallas Mavericks at New Orleans Pelicans

DraftKings $11,300, FanDuel $12,400, Yahoo $55 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 20.9%, FanDuel 10.9% Yahoo Fantasy 25.6%

The second-year sensation has been absolutely amazing this season. Looking at his stat line is jaw dropping with 30.6 points per game, third in the league, and 9.6 assists, which is second. He also is averaging 9.9 rebounds, good for 15th. That’s right, he is almost averaging a triple-double—a milestone with which he leads the league with seven. The youngster is a fine cornerstone for your lineups.

James Harden: Houston Rockets at San Antonio Spurs

DraftKings $12,500, FanDuel $12,000, Yahoo $58 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 7.9%, FanDuel 32.9% Yahoo Fantasy 35.6%

Guess who doesn’t have a triple-double yet this season. That’s right, it is James Harden. Of course, he is leading the league with 38.9 points per game and is seventh with 7.8 assists per game, all while playing with Russell Westbrook. Harden is the pivot away from Doncic and at this point, it would be incredibly hard to put both on the same lineup. It is the NBA and there are 14 teams in action, so that could always change on a dime.

The enticing thing with Harden is that he put up 60 points in just three quarters on his way to 80 fantasy points while the Rockets were leading by 50 points. This is not always going to happen, but if you were the coach, wouldn’t you want to pull him when up big against a weak opponent?

NBA DFS Picks: Intriguing Value

Today is shaping up to be a fun one as we do not have very many slam dunk value plays, so this is where lineup construction and actual analysis may carry the day. This of course could all be a pipe dream if there is an illness or injury we are not aware of that is announced leading up to lock.

For fun, I will be highlighting some of the better plays for each site with the news we have as of 10 a.m. EST this morning:

DraftKings/FantasyDraft

Khem Birch is solid in the absence of Nikola Vucevic against an uninspiring Wizards front court.

Lonzo Ball is intriguing with the Pelicans missing so many bodies against the Mavericks and this game could go small with Kristaps Porzingis at the five, which puts Jaxson Hayes squarely in the mix as well. Derrick Favors and Kenrich Williams are already ruled out.

Tim Hardaway Jr. should continue to see 30-ish minutes in the starting lineup and he is solidly priced on these sites.

JaMychal Green is dealing with a sore back, but he is cheap and could get extra mop up duty with the Clippers nearly double-digit favorites at home.

Kristaps Porzingis $6,500 on DraftKings and $12,700 is just a misprice.

FanDuel:

Josh Hart has a nice price point on FanDuel and he already has three double-digit rebound games this season. That is impressive for a guard, but we saw this while he was with the Lakers, so we know it is a replicable skill set. As mentioned above, Favors and Williams are out which will free up some rebounding opportunities.

Rudy Gay is interesting as long as LaMarcus Aldridge is out and he is still a decent play if he is in against the Rockets.

Tim Hardaway Jr and JaMychal Green as detailed above.

Yahoo

Khem Birch, D.J. Augustin and Terrence Ross: not all $10 players are created equal, but these guys stand out for their tasty matchup against the Wizards. Augustin is only in play if Michael Carter-Williams is out.

Rodney Hood can be infuriatingly inconsistent, but at the Yahoo minimum price, he is most definitely in play.

JaMychal Green, Rudy Gay and Tim Hardaway Jr as mentioned above.

FantasyCruncher Tip of the Day

Use promo code PRIMETIME to receive 50% off any one-month premium subscription (including FantasyCruncher options).

With the incredibly user-friendly and flexible rules creation feature on FantasyCruncher, we can take our lineup construction to the next level.

Today, we are going to talk about the FantasyCruncher roster display settings. By clicking on the gear icon after you have run your initial crunch, you can access a variety of display settings.

When you choose the gear, you will see the following menu appear.

From here you can customize the displays, one I like to show is the Projected Ownership. This can then be used to sort lineups.

Final Thoughts

Today is a much different puzzle to solve than what we had on Monday. With all of the top shelf options, we should see more differentiation and in turn, more strategy. When combined with the current lack of obvious value, this has all the makings of an amazing tournament slate for those who put in the work.

As always, you can reach out to me in Awesemo.com Premium Slack or on Twitter @EMacDFS if you have any NBA DFS questions about DraftKings, FanDuel, Yahoo or FantasyDraft.
