Top Contrarian Play and Why
- Josh: Based on his recent minutes, Kevin Huerter looks like an excellent value option on FanDuel at $4,600. Right now, we’re projecting 7% ownership which I think is way too low. I’ll be north of 20% as he makes it much easier to fit in some priorities at the top of of the forward slots.
- Adam: Deandre Ayton is currently projected for less than one percent ownership on DraftKings. I don’t think he is an optimal play since he isn’t much cheaper than Nikola Jokic or Karl-Anthony Towns and he is more expensive than Serge Ibaka, but he has the upside to be the highest-scoring center tonight. Phoenix is likely to still be short-handed in the frontcourt and Ayton has been playing 38-plus minutes in competitive games while averaging 1.20 DraftKings points per minute this season.
- Loughy: Kristaps Porzingis is getting single-digit ownership thanks to a tough matchup with the Jazz, but there’s reason to be optimistic about him tonight. In his last four games with Luka Doncic sidelined, Porzingis is averaging 1.69 DraftKings points per minute. He missed some time against the Grizzlies and only saw 21 minutes against the Wizards, but over that span without Doncic, he’s producing 34.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, three stocks and 59.4 DraftKings points per 36 minutes. Assuming this game stays competitive (Utah is favored by one), Porzingis should be in line for another 35-plus minutes on Monday.
- Spags: Terence Davis. Davis has over 35 fantasy points in three out of his last four games and he’ll get solid opportunity whether he starts due to Kyle Lowry missing again or if he comes off the bench. It’s a pace-up game against a Minnesota defense that is going to take a while to come together, if it ever does, and Davis seems to have carved out a role for himself despite a deep Toronto lineup.
