Top Contrarian Play?

  • Josh: Damian Lillard: For reason’s I don’t really understand, Lillard is projected with low ownership across FanDuel and DraftKings tonight. Ignorning the ownership on FD, he’s my top guard relative to salary. To get him below 10% ownership is simply a bonus. On DraftKings, he’s a coinflip compared to Luka, but at 1/3 the ownership. He’s simply a fantastic GPP play.
  • Adam: Mitchell Robinson: He is coming off the bench and almost never has any ownership but he should eat against the Hornet’s frontcourt. He played 22 minutes last game compared to 17 for Portis and 15 for Gibson. While he benefitted from foul trouble to Gibson, he was also hurt by his own foul trouble. Portis played a lot of minutes alongside Robinson as well, which opens the door for more playing time if Portis is going to start playing the four. Charlotte has allowed the 10th most putback points per game this season while Robinson is second in the NBA in putback points per game despite averaging 18.2 minutes per contest.
  • Loughy: Damian Lillard is projected for single-digit ownership tonight against the Rockets in a game that boasts a slate-high 230.5 O/U. Lillard leads the entire league in minutes (38.6 MPG) and is sporting a 29 percent usage rate to go along with 30 percent assists. He’s priced way down on DraftKings ($8,600), and should bounce back in a big way tonight.
  • Emac: Fred VanVleet: today I can honestly say he is a fine contrarian play. Currently it looks like he will be sub-15% across the board and with the way things are shaking out, gamers may continue to overlook him. We have Luka Doncic and James Harden drawing attention at the top and Aaron Holiday for the bargain hunters (particularly on FanDuel). Additionally there are several mid-priced centers who have tournament upside in Tristan Thompson, Mitchell Robinson and Myles Turner that free up more salary cap to put towards the premium guards. VanVleet is behind only Damian Lillard in minutes per game this season and the Raptors are still short handed for the next week or two. Over his last five outings which includes the game where Ibaka and Lowry got hurt, he is averaging 206ppg, 4.6rpg, 8.6apg, 2.4 combined blocks/steals on 17.4 FGAs in just shy of 40 minutes per game. That gets him to 44-47 fantasy points depending on your site of choice.
  • Alex: Robert Covington – With Wiggins out that gives RoCo the potential for extra run as the guys he competes with for minutes like Jake Layman can get them alongside RoCo. He’s a point a minute producer so if he gets at least 30 minutes he could smash his salary which still hasn’t gone up with Wiggins being out.
