Top Contrarian Play and Why

  • Loughy: Malik Beasley isn’t racking up peripherals at an ultra-high clip, but he’s playing big enough minutes and seeing enough shot volume to pay off his salary tonight. Both the Timberwolves and Rockets play at an elevated pace, and this game boasts an astronomical 247.5 over/under in Houston. Beasley is garnering only 10% ownership tonight, which makes him a rather appealing lower mid-range option at the guard position. He’s averaging 1.05 fantasy points per minute on 23 percent usage over the last three weeks. Elfrid Payton is similarly priced on DraftKings, and he’ll draw a stellar pace-up meeting with the Wizards.
  • Dan: Stephen Curry was listed as questionable heading into Tuesday with an illness. Coming off an injury, plus a questionable tag, puts his ownership sub-5%. He played 27 minutes in his first game back and put up 16 shots. While this matchup isn’t ideal, and the illness is concerning, Curry sub-$8,000 and sub-5% ownership has plenty of upside.
  • Spags: Julius Randle. Randle seems surprisingly lowly owned to me given the matchup at Washington and fact that he’s had three out of his last four games over 44 fantasy points. He’s reasonably priced and could have more upside than his current ownership indicates. With some of the other trickle-down effects from injuries out there like LaMarcus Aldridge back in the lineup or LeBron James potentially missing and creating more Anthony Davis ownership, Randle could get even more lowly owned. This seems like a spot I’d want more than the field of him.
