There is a solid nine-game slate today to wrap up the week. There is a lot of star power and lots of big names to watch as lineups get announced later in the day. Lebron James and Jimmy Butler are both listed as questionable today with James the more likely of the two to play. There is also significant injury impact in New Orleans shaping up, where both C.J. McCollum and Brandon Ingram are listed as out. That is going to open up a ton of value on this slate and make stacking in big names a lot easier. The largest point totals as of writing are between the Knicks vs. Grizzlies and Lakers vs. Wizards, which both have an over/under of 229.

Guard — Russell Westbrook $29

The Lakers have an implied team total of 116 today, which is one of the highest on this slate. They take on a Wizards team who is thin at guard, to begin with. It is also a nice revenge matchup for Russell Westbrook. Westbrook remains under $30 on Yahoo today which makes him a good upper-tier value, regardless of the matchup. He is coming off one of his best games of the season and has scored over 40 Yahoo points in two of his last five games. It is a plus matchup for Westbrook, as the Wizards rank in the bottom half of the league in terms of opposing 3-point field goal percentage and overall field goal percentage. The Lakers will need a boatload of points from him and Lebron James to stay competitive today, and he rates out one of the best values at his position on Awesemo at under $30 in price.

Guard — Donovan Mitchell $36

The Jazz take on a Spurs team today and have a 118 implied team total, the second largest on the slate. The spread is not too big either at -8.5 in favor of the Jazz, so their biggest players are fine targets. Utah will also be without Bojan Bogdanovic today, and given the role that both he and Donovan Mitchell play for this team, it should come as no shock that Mitchell has benefited the most for fantasy purposes when Bogdanovic has been out. The Spurs are a bottom-10 team in terms of opposing field goal percentage and 3-point field goal percentage allowed on the season and Mitchell shot the ball much better in his last game, posting 30.4 Yahoo points in just 24 minutes. Mitchell rates at the top of the shooting guard projections Awesemo today and makes for a strong piece to build around.

Forward — R.J. Barrett $29

With news on Lebron James and Jimmy Butler still to come, R.J. Barrett today at under $30 offers strong value. Barrett projects as a top-five play at his position and has been playing monster minutes for the Knicks since returning from injury. He has averaged over 36 Yahoo points over his last five games and yet still has an easy-to-fit salary. The game line for Memphis vs. New York sits at -9.5, but Barrett’s minutes have barely dipped, even when the Knicks have been getting blown out. If looking to fade the top two plays at small forward, or you just want a solid flex value, Barrett is still a great target and should remain one for daily fantasy basketball on Yahoo until his salary breeches that $30 mark.

Forward — Al Horford $23

The Celtics take on a Pistons team who rank bottom-five in opposing field goal percentage and in rebounds allowed on the season. This should be a great time for Al Horford to put up another efficient fantasy game. The veteran comes in off a strong three-game stretch where he posted two double-doubles and averaged over 38 Yahoo minutes. As one would expect, with Horford’s price-per-dollar potential today looking off the charts, he rates out extremely well in the overall projections (fifth at power forward) but also has the best value score of anyone over $20 on Yahoo. There is blowout potential, but Horford’s recent play and matchup make him too good a value to pass up for those not wanting to pay up at power forward.

Center — Jonas Valanciunas $29

There are a lot of good center options, but the log-jam of playable names means it is OK to be picky. Jonas Valanciunas balled out in his last outing, posting 30-points and 15-rebounds across 33+ minutes, and should be in line for another big performance today. The Pelicans are down two of their best players and Valanciunas’ usage went through the roof in his last start with just Brandon Ingram out. The matchup with the Hornets today is as ideal as it gets, given they rate out as one of the worst rebounding teams in the league. Take advantage of the obviously improved fantasy situation and the sub-$30 salary on tap for Valanciunas.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — P.J. Washington $17

The Hornets are small favorites on the road and will be taking on a Pelicans team without two of their best players. That should open up the floor for a role player like P.J. Washington to potentially shine through and provide good returns. Washington rates out strong today in the Awesemo projections, coming in sixth overall in the point projections for his position, and just a couple of points removed from the third spot. He has scored double-digit real-life points in seven of his last eight games and has been on the uptick shooting-wise. Put him high on the list of potential sub-20$ value plays to consider.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play —Devonte’ Graham $11

The Pelicans are without both of their top two players in Brandon Ingram and C.J. McCollum today. Devonte’ Graham was already playing over 20-minutes most nights but saw a bump to 29-minutes in his last game. He has not seen a price increase at all today and should get a good run today against the Hornets, who play at one of the fastest paces in the league. Graham rates out with the best value score of any player today in the Awesemo Projections and makes for a great way to jam in multiple big names on this larger slate.
