High-Upside NBA Daily Fantasy Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel Lineups Tonight | 3/21/22

Monday presents a nine-game NBA slate for DFS players to attack. As always, be sure to be watching the Awesemo NBA Starting Lineups page closely for updates on each team before making NBA picks today. The name to pay the most attention to is Karl-Anthony Towns (questionable, arm), because if the center sits, Naz Reid would likely get the spot start and be a must-play. For the six times Towns has been sidelined this season, Reid is collecting 27.3 DraftKings points per game. Below are some NBA daily fantasy basketball picks that stand out for tonight’s slate using Awesemo’s NBA DFS Boom/Bust Tool and NBA DFS projections.

Boom/Bust NBA Daily Fantasy Projections & Picks Today

Boom: LaMelo Ball: $8,800 DraftKings/$8,700 FanDuel

27% DraftKings Boom/23% FanDuel Boom

With Awesemo projecting Ball for single-digit ownership on both DraftKings and FanDuel, he is one of the best GPP targets available Monday night. Ball is in strong form right now, scoring 44 DraftKings points per game across his last seven starts, and on the menu for Monday is a date with the Pelicans. New Orleans ranks 17th in defensive efficiency, and they are playing their second game in two nights. Additionally, since losing Brandon Ingram (hamstring) six games ago, the Pelicans have been a faster offense, ranking sixth in pace.

In this spot, the Hornets boast the highest implied team total on the board with 120 points and this matchup’s total is tied for the highest of this nine-game slate at 234 points. In a sample size of 20 games, Ball is amassing 45.3 DraftKings points per game in totals of at least 230 points this season and brings a ceiling over 50 DraftKings points tonight according to Awesemo’s NBA DFS Boom/Bust Tool.

Boom: Saddiq Bey: $7,100 DraftKings/$7,000 FanDuel

27% DraftKings Boom/25% FanDuel Boom

The Pistons will be without Jerami Grant (knee) tonight, resulting in a larger workload for Bey. In the 22 games Grant has missed this season, Bey has been efficient with 35.2 DraftKings points per game. With Grant off the floor, Bey’s usage increases to 22.2% and he supplies one DraftKings point per minute in a large sample of 1,232 minutes.

In addition to the expanded role, Bey and the Pistons will be hosting the Trail Blazers, who rank second to last in defensive efficiency. Portland is also on the second leg of a back-to-back set and the Pistons carry their highest implied team total of the season in this juicy spot with 115.5 points. This is the largest implied team total Bey has ever played behind and exceeding 5x value on both DraftKings and FanDuel should be an easy task for Bey in this optimal situation.

Boom: Kris Dunn: $3,800 DraftKings/$4,900 FanDuel

32% DraftKings Boom/17% FanDuel Boom

While overpriced on FanDuel, Dunn is a standout value at only $3,800 on DraftKings. Since inking a 10-day contract with the Blazers, Dunn has been productive in his first four games with the team, contributing 24.2 DraftKings points in 24.2 minutes per game. Now, that role should grow even further tonight against the Pistons with Josh Hart (knee) ruled out. Dunn has led Portland in minutes per game with 33.3 since C.J. McCollum was traded to the Pelicans last month, and Dunn should play 25 to 30 minutes with Hart absent.

Albeit a small sample of only four games, Dunn is supplying one DraftKings point per minute this season and this Pistons’ defense he is going against ranks 24th in efficiency. Dunn should effortlessly outproduce his low DraftKings salary and is rating as a top-five value for the site in Awesemo’s NBA daily fantasy projections.

Dunn’s expanded role for tonight’s game has him popping in the NBA DFS lineup optimizer. He is one of the best value plays for NBA lineups tonight, and is one of the most popular players showing up in the DraftKings NBA DFS Cheat Sheet and FanDuel NBA DFS Cheat Sheet.

Boom: Al Horford: $5,900 DraftKings/$5,400 FanDuel

37% DraftKings Boom/51% FanDuel Boom

Fire up Horford in all formats on both DraftKings and FanDuel with Robert Williams (knee) unavailable. When Williams has been inactive this season, Horford has slid over to center and thrived as the Celtics’ primary big man, eclipsing 30 DraftKings points in eight of the 12 starts he has made without Williams. In the 1,039 minutes Horford has played with Williams off the court, he has generated 1.1 DraftKings points per minute, mostly attributed to a 2.8-percentage-point upgrade to his assist rate and 1.3 percentage point boost to his rebound percentage.

To put the icing on the cake, Horford will be going against his former team in the Thunder. Oklahoma City ranks second to last in defensive rating this month and they are yielding the most rebounds in the league this season. Boston’s implied team total is the seventh highest on the slate at 115.25 points and Horford should stuff the stat sheet en route to at least 30 fantasy points tonight. In Awesemo’s NBA Boom/Bust Tool, he has a top-five boom score on the slate for both DraftKings and FanDuel.
