In NBA DFS and daily fantasy basketball as a whole, it is not as simple as rostering who we think the best play is. We have to consider the odds each individual player has of going off or busting. Nobody is a sure thing. With the Awesemo NBA DFS Boom vs. Bust Tool, we have our own odds to help us navigate range of outcomes for NBA daily fantasy. NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates
Patty Mills vs. Thunder: $4,300/$3,800
66.6% DraftKings Boom/79% FanDuel Boom
The Spurs are the top team to target tonight. Their last few games were pushed back to COVID, and the team is returning to action with a handicapped roster. Rudy Gay, Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, DeMar DeRozan and Derrick White are all out tonight. This opens up a crazy amount of value in the backcourt, and Mills is my favorite cheap play of the bunch. I expect him to start and play in the neighborhood of 30 minutes with increased usage due to the amount of core players out for San Antonio.

Dejounte Murray vs. Thunder: $7,500/$7,400
64.4% DraftKings Boom/71.5% FanDuel Boom
Mills is my favorite cheap option from San Antonio and Murray is my top spend-up option from the team. He is going to have to carry the offense due to all the missing players, leading to projected odds of around 50% to land on the optimal lineup on both FanDuel and DraftKings. In general, Murray hasn’t played well this season with DeRozan off the court, but I am willing to look past this since there are so many players not available for San Antonio. I haven’t even mentioned yet that LaMarcus Aldridge is questionable to play due to a hip injury. This could leave the Spurs with only nine active players and Murray the only high-usage player of the group.
Jayson Tatum vs. Hawks: $9,400/$9,200
36.4% DraftKings Boom/46.8% FanDuel Boom
The Celtics are in a rough skid lately. They continue to lose close games, and these are often games that it looks like they are lock to win. Boston blew a lead of over 20 points against the Pelicans over the weekend and are now below .500. This is the kind of spot where I think we start to see the Celtics lean on their star player to pull them out of a funk. Kemba Walker is likely to rest since this is the tail end of a back-to-back, which opens up increased usage for Tatum. He leads Boston with a 33.1% usage rate without Walker on the court.
NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates
Pascal Siakam vs. Heat: $3,900/$3,500
50.5% DraftKings Bust/48.8% FanDuel Bust
Siakam is one of my least favorite plays that is picking up ownership tonight. The problem here is that Kyle Lowry is expected to return to the Raptors after missing the last few games because of a thumb injury. With Lowry back in the mix, Siakam and Fred VanVleet both lose out on usage and playmaking duties. In addition, both of them are priced up due to increased production from the games that Lowry missed.
