In NBA DFS and daily fantasy basketball as a whole, it is not as simple as rostering the best play appears to be. Gamers have to consider the odds each individual player has of going off or busting. NBA DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Bradley Beal vs. Pistons: $8,700/$8,300

14.5% DraftKings Boom/28.2% FanDuel Boom

Beal is trying to shoot his way out of a slump right now. Despite scoring 30 or more points in three straight games, it has taken 82 shots across those three games to do so. This has helped bring his salary down fairly low for him, and it looks to be a good time to jump aboard. As I say in a lot of betting pieces, facing the Pistons is the perfect get-right spot. The same can be true for Beal today in NBA fantasy. Beal should face relatively soft defense, though his scoring totals haven’t really been the issue. According to the Awesemo NBA DFS projections should also see an uptick in assists, possible steals against this poor team, and he’ll likely grab more defensive rebounds. The Pistons are in a big pace-up spot, so there should be a ton of missed shots on their end. This should round out Beal’s stat sheet and lead to a great day.

Jordan Clarkson vs. Lakers: $6,200/$5,800

35.1% DraftKings Boom/N/A FanDuel Boom

If you’re playing a slate with the first game of the day involved, Clarkson looks to be a solid play. Donovan Mitchell sprained his ankle and will be out. This means more minutes, usage and shooting opportunities for Clarkson. He is also facing off against his former team in the Lakers today, who very well could be shorthanded. Awesemo’s NBA DFS fantasy point projections have Clarkson slated to lead the team in scoring, with 24 points. This already nearly brings him to hitting value, so any other stats will be gravy.

Jaylen Brown vs. Warriors: $8,300/$8,200

21.3% DraftKings Boom/30.1% FanDuel Boom

Brown is coming off a monster 40-point game. Now, he faces another easy matchup against the Warriors. Brown is coming in with a near 27-point total for tonight, according to our NBA DFS projections, which leads the Celtics. Brown has been a “boom” at his current price point the last four times he has scored at least 27 points. This is because he fills up the stat sheet normally, so increasing his points leads to the monster NBA fantasy days. Evan Fournier also continues to be out for Boston today. May as well play Brown before Fournier comes back and Brown’s value takes a hit. Likely matched up with either Andrew Wiggins or Kent Basemore for most of the game, Brown should be able to do what he wants to.

NBA DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Devin Booker vs. Spurs: $8,800/$8,700

74.7% DraftKings Bust/66.2% FanDuel Bust

Booker’s price point is a bit too high right now. He has been a bust in five of his last six games. Booker even saw 31 minutes with a 34.2% usage rate last game and still was a bust, due to having an off shooting night. As of writing, the Suns are favored by double-digit points. If this game gets out of hand, Booker almost definitely will be a bust. Should the game stay close, that likely means Booker wasn’t playing great, which puts him in bust territory yet again. There is a thin path the fantasy greatness for him today. Unfortunately, there are plenty more scenarios that point to him being a bad play.
