Greg Ehrenberg uses Awesemo's Boom/Bust projection tool for the best NBA DFS picks for DraftKings + FanDuel daily fantasy plays | 4/28/21

The Utah Jazz reign supreme today on the Awesemo NBA DFS Boom vs. Bust Tool. With Mike Conley out, Utah presents the best value on today’s 10-game NBA DFS slate on FanDuel and DraftKings. There are also plenty of strong pay up options between Nikola Jokic, Russell Westbrook and Joel Embiid, but who has the best NBA fantasy projection of the studs?

DraftKings + FanDuel Boom/Bust Projections | April 28

NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Jordan Clarkson vs. Kings: $6,900 DraftKings/$6,800 FanDuel

57.2% DraftKings Boom/63% FanDuel Boom

For most of the season, the Jazz looked like locks to wind up as the top seed in the Western Conference. All of a sudden, this is at risk. After a couple of bad losses in a row to Minnesota, the Jazz only hold a one-game lead over the Suns for the best record in the NBA. To make this lead even more uncomfortable, Utah is missing Conley and Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell remains out with an ankle injury, and Conley has suffered yet another hamstring injury. This is going to force Utah to rely heavily on Clarkson and Joe Ingles. When Conley and Mitchell are off the court, Clarkson has a 30.7% usage rate and scores 39.08 DraftKings points per 36 minutes.

Nikola Jokic vs. Timberwolves: $11,000 DraftKings/$11,100 FanDuel

33.8% DraftKings Boom/33.9% FanDuel Boom

The Nuggets lost Jamal Murray to a season-ending injury, but they are still staying afloat because of Jokic. The likely NBA MVP, Jokic is putting this team on his back even more than normal. He has a usage rate over 30% in four of the last five games while still maintaining a high assist rate. This shouldn’t come as a shock when looking at Jokic’s numbers for the season without Murray on the court. With his star point guard on the floor, Jokic has a 33.3% usage rate and scores 59.92 DraftKings points per 36 minutes. He is the top target to spend up for on this slate.

Cedi Osman vs. Magic: $5,000 DraftKings/$5,500 FanDuel

29.4% DraftKings Boom/23.9% FanDuel Boom

His price is up a bit from the last couple of slates, but Osman still makes for a very strong value play. It is weird to see how the Cavaliers utilize him, although his role is his role. When everybody is healthy, Osman barely cracks Cleveland’s rotation. As soon as one or two guys are out, he plays all the minutes he can handle. This has led to him averaging 38 minutes in the last two games after he was a DNP in five consecutive games. Since Collin Sexton and Larry Nance Jr. remain out, Osman should approach close to 40 minutes of playing time once again.

NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Chris Paul vs. Clippers: $7,600 DraftKings/$8,200 FanDuel

57.3% DraftKings Bust/55.2% FanDuel Bust

Paul is an uncomfortable fade for tonight, but he has one of the highest bust ratings for any player high up in the Awesemo NBA DFS ownership projections. This is a pivotal game for the Suns, and a win likely seals a first-place finish in the Pacific Division. The issue is the price tag and a perceived lack of upside in Paul. He is averaging fewer than 35 DraftKings points across his last two games, and he hasn’t scored over 50 fantasy points in a regulation game in nearly a month. On a slate filled with stars, there are higher-upside targets with better boom ratings to spend our salary space on.
