NBA Fantasy: Boom Bust Tool Projections for DraftKings + FanDuel Lineups | Today 5/4

The Hornets stand out as top plays in NBA fantasy projections after getting hit by injuries and COVID. Gordon Hayward, Devonte’ Graham, Cody Martin and P.J. Washington were all out, and today it was revealed that Miles Bridges will miss 10 to 14 days because of COVID protocols. This creates a ton of value on DraftKings and FanDuel while a handful of players appear near the of the list on the Awesemo NBA DFS Boom vs. Bust Tool.

NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Jalen McDaniels vs. Pistons: $4,600 DraftKings/$3,800 FanDuel

42.8% DraftKings Boom/69.2% FanDuel Boom

The Hornets are going to run a tight rotation tonight because they don’t have another choice. Five of the core players in their rotation are out, and from a value standpoint, McDaniels is the greatest benefactor. He played 27 minutes with the Hornets short-handed last game, and that was coming off the bench. Tonight he should start and play well over 30 minutes. McDaniels is averaging 24.58 DraftKings points per game as a starter this season, and he should get more minutes and usage as a starter tonight than he got in any of the previous stints. This makes him a cheap player that has to get rostered in cash games.

Marvin Bagley vs. Thunder: $5,000 DraftKings/$5,500 FanDuel

65.2% DraftKings Boom/61.6% FanDuel Boom

It is not often that Bagley is healthy. Tonight, not only is he available, but the Kings are dealing with a handful of injuries and have a great matchup against what’s left of the Oklahoma City roster. Coming back from an injury, Sacramento didn’t waste much time to get Bagley thrown into the fray. He started last game and played 34 minutes, which is the third-most playing time he has seen all season. He is going to have to continue to log these kinds of minutes because of injuries. With De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton and Harrison Barnes all out, the Kings are forced to play more big lineups. This is what led to extended minutes for Bagley, and since he scores well over a fantasy point per minute, this puts him in line for around 40 fantasy points if he gets the same playing time that he got last game  — and he’s the No. 1 vale play, according to the Awesemo NBA DFS projections.

Saben Lee vs. Hornets: $3,000 DraftKings/$3,500 FanDuel

47.8% DraftKings Boom/44.3% FanDuel Boom

The Pistons played in a relatively competitive game last night and are doing everything possible to make sure that never happens again. They are going to great lengths on the injury report to list just about everybody who has any sort of value. Wayne Ellington, Jerami Grant, Cory Joseph, Dennis Smith, Rodney McGruder, Josh Jackson and Mason Plumlee are all out tonight. This comes in addition to Hamidou Diallo getting listed as questionable. This means that Detroit could play tonight with only eight active players, which would force pretty much everybody available into significant minutes. That would make a guy like Lee a really strong value play when he already rates out well as is.

NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Collin Sexton vs. Suns: $8,300 DraftKings/$8,500 FanDuel

65.8% DraftKings Bust/59.2% FanDuel Bust

It is hard to find many bust candidates tonight. There is so much value and players out that nearly every player looks good on the slate from a points-per-dollar standpoint. Sexton is one of the exceptions. He is at a peak price because Darius Garland is out, and it is unreasonable to pay this much money to roster Sexton. There are far better pay-up options tonight, and he’s in a brutal matchup. The Suns are one of the toughest teams in the league to score fantasy points against, and Cleveland has the lowest team total on today’s slate.
