The Jock MKT Starter Kit: NBA DFS Picks | Feb. 11
How to Play at Jock MKT
To begin, enter the NBA Daily Market when the Initial Public Offering (IPO) phase is under way. Leading up until the start of the first game, bid up on players you are interested in acquiring on the open market. Is there a player who you consider a favorite to finish at the top of the rankings? Invest as much or as little as you want in their fantasy performance, with shares beginning at $1 and ranging all the way up to $25. See potential injury news that could open up an opportunity for another player to acquire fantasy points? Make speculative bids for shares of the back-up, hoping for that news to break after the IPO phase is complete.
[DAYTONA]
The next part of the game occurs during live trading. Unlike in regular NBA DFS where your plays are locked in, you can buy and sell shares of players while the games are happening based on their production and where you could see them finishing amongst the field. Track as current points, projected points, and live price for each player is updated in real time, allowing you to track the action and invest in an instant to account for news. Trading can be done all the way up until the final buzzer of the night’s final game.
At the end of the games, each player share is paid out based on their final rankings of fantasy points amongst the field. If the shares you own are worth more than what you paid, you win money. It’s as simple as that! For more information, go to jockmkt.com.

Strategy Session — Star Power
There are only five games Thursday, but the night is loaded with big names. Locking up one or two of them during the IPO process could be key. The first one that comes to mind is Nikola Vucevic. The Magic are one of the two late games, so depending on how things go in the early contests, he could be a hot commodity leading up to the Magic’s tip=off. Also, Evan Fournier (back) and Cole Anthony (shoulder) are listed as questionable. If they get ruled out shortly before tipoff, Vucevic could put forth a monster stat line.
There are a couple of teams that have depth issues for this slate, the Magic being one of them. Another is the Warriors, who remain short-handed up front. James Wiseman (wrist) and Kevon Looney (ankle) will be out, meaning Draymond Green should continue to play the five. He’s thrived since those two went down, averaging 6.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 12.8 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.5 blocks across four games. Many people might focus on Stephen Curry in this matchup against the undermanned Magic backcourt, but don’t sleep on Green.
My Targets for Tonight
Joel Embiid – Vucevic and Embiid are both primed for big nights. When the 76ers faced the Trail Blazers last week, Embiid scored 37 points on 21 shot attempts. He’s scored at least 33 points in four of his last five games and is averaging a career-high 29.1 points per game for the season, overall. Not only is he a monster on the offensive end, but he’s also averaging 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks, which would be the first time in his career that he has averaged at least 1 steal and 1 block in the same season.
Jerami Grant – Few players are as safe as Grant night in and night out. First of all, he’s averaging 36 minutes per game. He came to the Pistons because he wanted to play more and take on a leading role, so that’s not likely to change anytime soon. Second, in his leading role, he’s averaged 24.3 points per game to go along with a 26.2 percent usage rate. Basically, there’s not much risk involved with acquiring Grant.
T.J. McConnell – Don’t sleep on McConnell. He’s only averaging 5.1 points per game for the season, so he might not be on a lot of people’s radar. However, he’s a tremendous passer, which has enabled him to average 7.8 assists over the last 14 games. On top of that, his aggressive style of defense allowed him to average 1.7 steals during that same stretch. As far as cheaper options go, McConnell could be one that provides significant returns.
