The Leaderboard
Shockingly, Awesemo is in the lead with 445 points and a 3-0 record, led by a team that includes Ezekiel Elliott, Patrick Mahomes and George Kittle. Sammy Watkins coming in off the bench with Tyreek Hill’s injury has helped him out. Awesemo still has A.J. Green waiting in the wings — this team is a wagon.
Manny Lora, who shocked the nation, grabbing DeAndre Hopkins with the third-overall pick, sits in second.
Evan Silva is this year’s Bad Luck Brian. His 406.48 point total ranks fourth in the entire league, yet he sits at 0-3, a game behind ThePME who has 80 fewer points. That’s season long for you. Silva has also been without Hill all season, so a comeback is certainly in the cards.
Our own Dave Lougrhan finds himself in a pickle with Saquon Barkley OUT for the next four-to-eight weeks with a high ankle sprain. Will Loughy spend big on Wayne Gallman? Time will tell.
The Charities
Biggest Beat Down
It’s not every day you see a 200+ Weekly total in fantasy football, especially in a standard FLEX league with no kicker. J.J. Zachariason’s team went absolutely HAM in Week 3 on poor Evan Silva, who just can’t catch a break. Silva would have beaten six other teams this week with that 127 total.
Last week’s waiver wire
In a stunning turn of events, Evan Silva made the ‘nicest’ move of the week, throwing down $69 on Chiefs WR Demarcus Robinson. Some might say that was an overpayment, with the impending return of Tyreek Hill.
Silva is bringing up the rear, however, at 0-3 and desperate times call for desperate measures.
Here’s a full breakdown of what some of these pros bid last week on the wire
- Pat Maya, aka ThePME went big for Devin Smith, who dudded with a 2-39 line.
- Same story for Chris Spags who grabbed Randall “don’t call me Reggie” Cobb for $5.
- Looks like the Kalen Ballage super-sleeper days are done. He’s officially on the wire.
The Waiver Wire
Worst Bench Move
Bobby Lu aka Roberto Luongo left Darren Waller and his 27 fantasy points on the bench in favour of Mark Andrews, who dudded for the first time this season. That loss of 23 points in his starting lineup cost him the win over Dave Loughran.
Best Sneaky Start
Dave Loughran sticking with Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the starting lineup and getting paid off to the tune of a 6-99-1 line. Valdes-Scantling had just 68 receiving yards heading into Week 3.
Week 3 MVP
Take your pick from anyone on J.J. Zachariason’s roster. The man whose twitter handle is LateRoundQB has not disappointed thus far, with Tom Brady back from the dead, providing elite fantasy performances week in and week out. The MVP has to go to Mike Evans and his 45 points, with honorable mention to Tyler Lockett and Alvin Kamara.
Have a quick look at J.J.’s roster. It’s something to behold. My god, that depth. If this is what happens when you wait on quarterback, sign me up. Or, you could go the Bill Simmons route and take six quarterbacks to make sure you get a good one. Your call.
Upcoming Matchup
Two men enter, one man leaves. Awesemo vs. Manny Lora this week in a battle of undefeateds. With half his team injured and George Kittle on a bye, Awesemo will need to find a tight end on the waiver wire this week to fill out his roster.
