Patrick Mahomes — QB — Kansas Chiefs
Jock MKT is ranking Patrick Mahomes No. 1 overall, which limits his value. Still, Awesemo projects Mahomes as the top overall scorer on this slate, which means he would pay out $25 per share. Last week, Mahomes passed for 337 yards and three touchdowns also ran for a touchdown. This week he faces a Ravens team he is very familiar with at this point. He passed for 385 yards and four touchdowns while adding another touchdown on the ground last season against them. In 2019 he threw for 374 yards and three touchdowns. The Ravens’ defense did not look great last Monday night; they struggled to generate pressure without running a zero blitz, which means Mahomes should have time to find open receivers. He has no ceiling in Week 2.
Justin Herbert — QB — Los Angeles Chargers
Week 2 is the Chargers’ home opener and Justin Herbert’s first game in front of a home crowd. Facing a physical Washington team, Herbert passed for 337 yards, one touchdown and an interception. This week the matchup looks to be much better. Herbert will face a Cowboys defense that got picked apart by the Buccaneers in Week 1. On top of that, the Cowboys have lost Randy Gregory and top pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence since that game. These two absences figure to make Herbert’s life much easier, and it is a big reason this game has one of the highest projected totals of the week.
Jock MKT is overlooking Herbert this week, ranking him No. 12, while Awesemo projects Herbert to be fourth in scoring on this slate. Should this be true, his shares would be worth $16 apiece, which would likely be a nice profit. The 16th-ranked player gets paid out only $9.50.
Austin Ekeler — RB —Los Angeles Chargers
Austin Ekeler figures to be one of the busier players in the Cowboys – Chargers game. He somehow was not used in the passing game in Week 1, but he still totaled 15 carries. However, the best takeaway from Week 1 was that Ekeler was given red-zone carries, leading the NFL with seven. His receiving production should rise today, making him a threat for a lot of touches and possibly multiple touchdowns. Awesemo projects Ekeler for 18.48 fantasy points today. With Jock MKT ranking him 25th overall, he could end up returning a nice profit.
