Best Wild Card Weekend NFL DFS Value Plays for DraftKings & FanDuel Lineups | Saturday & Sunday Main Slate

It is always important to find value for DFS lineups. What is also important is finding value with a reasonable upside, especially for tournaments. This article digs into the cheap players in the Awesemo NFL DFS projections that have the best points-per-dollar ratings. Using those projections, here are the top Wild Card NFL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel lineups.

Wild Card NFL DFS Picks & Value Plays | DraftKings & FanDuel

FanDuel Value Quarterback: Jalen Hurts — $7.700

After not playing last week in a meaningless Week 18 game, Hurts is the cheapest he has been since Week 1 on FanDuel. That is despite a matchup with the Buccaneers — the team that faces the highest rate of opponent pass attempts in the league. Tampa has a strong defense but has allowed six quarterbacks to score at least 26 FanDuel points on the season. That list includes Hurts; in his previous matchup with Tampa Bay he had one of his better games of the season on the strength of two touchdowns rushing.

The rushing upside stands out for Hurts here. There are heavy rains in the forecast in Tampa on Sunday, and slippery conditions favor ball carriers. Tampa also blitzes at the league’s highest rate, which could force Hurts out of the pocket and into more scrambles. Hurts will probably see more designed runs than normal as well, both due to the weather conditions and the importance of the game. All of this adds up to Hurts having the highest value score in Awesemo’s projections outside of Patrick Mahomes.

DraftKings Value Quarterback: Jimmy Garoppolo — $5,300

Garoppolo is back under center for the 49ers’ playoff run. He has been a better real-life quarterback than fantasy option this year, with a high completion rate but moderate yardage and touchdown totals. He is a slight underdog in the game with the Wild Card Round’s highest total, though.

San Francisco will likely have to throw the ball more than usual in this one, as they take on a Cowboys team that features an explosive offense. Garoppolo has picked up the DraftKings 300-yard bonus in each of his past two games, which leads to a solid score, even without any touchdowns at his current salary. Gamers who roster him are hoping he takes care of the ball better, though; he also threw two interceptions in each of those games. Besides the one-point deduction for an interception, it also takes the offense off the field, which hurts his chances of a good score. Regardless, Garoppolo is the best DraftKings value at quarterback in Awesemo’s projections.

FanDuel Value Running Back: Devin Singletary — $6,900

None of the truly low-priced running backs are showing up as good values in Awesemo’s projections this weekend. That leaves Singletary as the cheapest reasonable option. He is not a great value overall, but he ranks second among running backs playing on Saturday. The range of outcomes for Singletary is fairly wide here. Buffalo has been all over the place with their running back usage but seems to have settled on Singletary in recent weeks. They have fed him 19 carries per game over the last four, to go with 2.5 targets.

This could be a high-volume week for Singletary, thanks to frigid temperatures in Buffalo. Quarterback Josh Allen has historically played poorly in the cold, which should tilt the Bills towards a run-first approach. It is also the better way to attack New England’s defense. The Patriots rank third against the pass but ninth against the run by DVOA. While that is still a tough matchup, it suggests that volume should at least be solid for Singletary. He also has six total touchdowns over the past four games, a trend that could continue with the Bills implied for 24 points in a tough passing matchup.

DraftKings Value Running Back: Leonard Fournette — $5,600

Fournette is the best DraftKings value on the week (regardless of position) in Awesemo’s projections. DraftKings has made a habit of gradually lowering the price on players when they miss time, leading to Fournette being the cheapest he has been since Week 5. He is far too cheap for his recent performance — he has averaged over 30 DraftKings points in his last three (full) games played.

The Buccaneers signed Le’Veon Bell during Fournette’s absence, but Fournette should still be the primary running back for the team, particularly in the passing game since he has seen at least six targets in six straight games. He has the strongest pass-game role of any running back playing this week, which is invaluable on full-PPR DraftKings. Thanks to his reduced salary, Fournette is a strong play even if Bell cuts in for a few opportunities against the Eagles.

FanDuel Value Wide Receiver: Tee Higgins — $6,900

Higgins is $1,800 cheaper than Ja’Marr Chase on FanDuel this week. That stands out due to their remarkably similar production. Since the Bengals’ Week 10 bye, Higgins has scored only 4.8 fewer FanDuel points than Chase. While Chase’s blowup games have been bigger, Higgins has three games over 20 FanDuel points in the last six as well as a 37-point explosion in Week 16.

Assuming this one stays close, this is a great game for the Bengals passing offense to shine. The Raiders rank 10th in DVOA against the run but 21st against the pass. Joe Burrow has been one of the best fantasy quarterbacks in the league down the stretch, bringing his receivers with him. Everything sets up perfectly for a big game from one of them, and Higgins is far cheaper. He is the top value among receivers playing on Saturday and the top value of receivers under $7,000 in Awesemo’s projections.

DraftKings Value Wide Receiver: Tyler Boyd — $4,600

Continuing with the “overlooked Bengals receivers” theme, Boyd is the top Saturday value on DraftKings (and the best value under $6,000) in Awesemo’s projections. While his chances of a huge game are lower than those of his teammates, Boyd still has a solid role in the Bengals offense. He has at least five targets in his last five games. He also has the shortest average depth of target of the Bengals trio. That leads to a higher catch rate, which is valuable on full-PPR DraftKings. As it is for Higgins, the matchup is strong for Boyd. Do not forget about him on DraftKings this week.
