[CYBERMONDAYBLUE]

NFL DFS Picks: Week 12 Monday Night Football DraftKings + FanDuel

Seattle Seahawks: 27.5

Quarterback

Though they have the 20th passing DVOA per FootballOutsiders, Philadelphia is allowing just 209.3 passing yards per game, which is the sixth fewest in the league. Of course, facing the likes of Dwayne Haskins, C.J. Beathard, Nick Mullens, Daniel Jones (twice), Ben DiNucci and Baker Mayfield will make most defenses look solid. They haven’t allowed a passing touchdown in the last three games despite losing two of those tilts.

Russell Wilson is third in the league with 297.8 passing yards per game, and his 30 passing touchdowns are the most among all signal-callers. Though he has slowed down over his last three games with only four passing touchdowns and failing to top 250 yards twice, Seattle is still letting Wilson cook. He has multiple touchdowns in all but one game, and the two aforementioned games are just two of the three times he has failed to crest over the 250 passing yard milestone.

Running Back

Chris Carson (foot) is slated to return after missing the last four games. It is important to keep in mind that Carson has double-digit carries in just three of his six games and he has not topped 100 rushing yards. Carlos Hyde is healthy once again, and while Carson is the better receiver, Hyde has held his own and is arguably the better runner.

Carson has six touchdowns on the season with three rushing and three receiving. The improved running game will help keep the pressure off Wilson, who has been sharing the backfield with Alex Collins, Bo Scarbrough, Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas all playing prominent roles in the absence of Carson and with Hyde also missing three of the last four games. It is likely Dallas will be active and a very slim chance of Scarbrough. They will be hard to count on for much unless the game gets completely out of hand. If Collins is active for another game, he will have about a $700,000 contract swing, so this will be emergency situations only.

Wide Receiver

As mentioned above, the Eagles have not faced many passing attacks with teeth this year. D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett have been trading off big weeks, and both are capable of breaking the slate. The vast majority of Lockett’s production has come in two meetings with Arizona, including one game that went nearly the entire overtime period. In those games he has 29 targets for 24 catches, 267 yards and four touchdowns, while in his other eight games he has 43 catches for 481 yards and four touchdowns. Metcalf has been the more steady producer, but he was held in check the last two games with just  five catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. Make no mistake, both of these receivers are worthy of Week 12 Captain/MVP consideration on DraftKings and FanDuel.

David Moore and rookie Freddie Swain are the only other wide receivers to play a snap this season. Clearly Wilson is locked onto his two best options first and foremost.

Wanna bet?

Alex “Awesemo” Baker’s projected stats (part of  Awesemo+) have D.K Metcalf with 4.44 receptions, which makes the under 5.5 at -134 on OddsShopper an intriguing way to hedge some our Week 12 DraftKings and FanDuel NFL DFS picks. Tight Ends

Offseason acquisition Greg Olsen has essentially half of the tight end production with 35 targets for 23 catches, 224 yards and a touchdown. Will Dissly is playing comparable snaps, but he has been targeted just 17 times. Finally we have Jacob Hollister who plays on about a quarter of the snaps with 19 targets. It should be noted that over the prior four seasons nearly 30% of Wilson’s touchdowns went to tight ends, so it seems like an anomaly that the position has just three of the 30 so far.

Now for the big reveal: Olsen is out with a plantar fascia injury with a chance to return for the playoffs. This makes Dissly and Hollister intriguing tournament options as discount dandies due to Wilson’s proclivity to keep his tight ends engaged.

Defense/Special Teams

Philadelphia has allowed at least three sacks in all but one game, and they have multiple interceptions in six. This culminates in the most sacks allowed in the league and the third-most turnovers. Seattle is averaging 2.5 sacks and 1.5 takeaways per game.

Philadelphia Eagles: 21.0

Quarterback

Carson Wentz will now be splitting time with rookie Jalen Hurts, which is not likely to help the Eagles. Per Rotoworld, Hurts has played 31 offensive snaps, but they have all been with Wentz on the field. There is no word on how things will shake out other than Hurts will indeed get some snaps as the only quarterback on the field. Perhaps we will find out if this means he will get an entire series or two or if this is just going to be situational snaps dictated by the game flow.

On the season Wentz is averaging 232.6 passing yards per game with 14 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. The five rushing touchdowns are by far a career high, and normally we would be fired up to play him in this matchup. It is still worth the risk in tournaments as Seattle is allowing a league-leading 343.7 passing yards per game, which is in the mix for the most passing yards allowed of all time. Eight of the 10 quarterbacks to face the Seahawks have accounted for multiple touchdowns.

Keep in mind that the Eagles are just half a game behind Washington and New York for the NFC East playoff berth.

Running Back

Seattle has been decent against the run with the eighth-best DVOA as compared to the 27th passing DVOA. This is also known in the DFS world as a pass-funnel defense. Fortunately Miles Sanders is adept as both a runner and a receiver. In his two games back from injury, Sanders is averaging 15.5 carries for 75.5 yards and five targets for 2.5 receptions and 12.5 yards. Two weeks ago he had to watch Boston Scott get a rushing touchdown (he only had four touches in the game), and Corey Clement also got one on his only snap of the game.

Speaking of Scott, he somehow has at least 74 combined yards in three of his last four games, along with two touchdowns. Yes, Sanders missed two of these outings, but that is some pretty impressive efficiency. The snaps have been split 65/35 the last two games between Sanders and Scott. Elijah Holyfield saw his first action of the year last week with five snaps though he did not see the ball.

Wide Receiver

Despite being in a cherry matchup, the uncertainty at quarterback somewhat dampens the wide receivers. Over the last three games since the return of rookie Jalen Reagor, the opportunities have been evenly shared among the lead trio of wide receivers.

Player 8 9 10 11 Total
Travis Fulgham 7 Bye 5 7 19
Jalen Reagor 6 Bye 7 5 18
Greg Ward 5 Bye 6 4 15
John Hightower 3 Bye 0 0 3

Despite a dozen targets over the last two weeks, Travis Fulgham has just two catches for 16 yards. Just keep that in mind when reviewing the Monday Night Football popularity projections and let those be your guide when choosing between Fulgham and Reagor. Greg Ward is more of a possession guys, but he should maintain some value with Zach Ertz unlikely to play Monday.

Tight End

Dallas Goedert is actually more expensive than the Philadelphia wide receivers on FanDuel, and just Fulgham ($400) has a higher price tag on FanDuel. Zach Ertz is likely to miss a fifth game with his ankle injury; that will keep veteran Richard Rodgers in the mix for one more week as a dart throw. Goedert will be on the field for nearly every snap as he has been for the last three weeks (100%, 93%, 84%) since returning from his own injury. That leaves around 25-30% for Rodgers. Even without Ertz, the Eagles are still running a fair amount of two-tight-end formations.

Defense/Special Teams

Seattle has ceded multiple sacks in every game this season and have allowed the third most in the league at 3.3 per game. They are in the middle of the pack with their 1.4 turnovers per game, but we know that Carson has fumbling issues. The Eagles are mediocre when it comes to takeaways, but they are second in the league with 3.4 sacks per game behind only the Steelers.

Monday Night Football DraftKings Showdown + FanDuel Single Game NFL DFS Strategy

The rankings below are best utilized for building out single-entry and three-max lineups and also for head-to-head and three-man formats. They provide a nice barometer for player value, but for those of you who are taking the MME approach, remember that correlation with your lineups is key. This means matching a receiver or two if you have a quarterback in the Captain/MVP slot. This also works conversely with pairing a Captain/MVP pass catcher with their signal-caller.

EMac’s Week 12 Monday Night Football DraftKings + FanDuel NFL DFS Rankings

NOTABLE INACTIVES: PHI Nate Sudfeld, Quez Watkins. Lane Johnson – SEA Travis Homer

NOTABLE ACTIVES: PHI Alshon Jeffery – SEA Chris Carson, David Moore, Freddie Swaim

Week 12 Monday Night Football Top 10 NFL DFS Picks

  1. Russell Wilson: This is an easy choice, even with the premium price tag.
  2. Miles Sanders: With his ability to contribute in all facets of the game, he will be a mainstay of my lineups.
  3. Chris Carson: There is some risk with this recommendation, but he has been close to returning for a couple of weeks and we get a discount from Lockett and Metcalf.
  4. Dallas Goedert: Strictly a price play. Otherwise we would be looking at Wentz, but with Hurts lurking, that is off the table until around the 10th lineup or so.
  5. Tyler Lockett: With nearly a 20% discount to Metcalf on DraftKings, this is not a tough choice. The $1,000 or 8% discount on FanDuel is nowhere near as enticing on Monday.
  6. Jalen Reagor: The talented rookie who is fully healthy against a Swiss cheese secondary.
  7. Carson Wentz: Even with Hurts lurking, I am OK in tournaments playing for a positive Philadelphia game script — depending on popularity, of course. Leverage is everything with the short slates.
  8. D.K. Metcalf: We are paying top dollar, which pushes him down the list with game theory heavily in play.
  9. David Moore: The lack of news is annoying. He was limited on Friday and Saturday — Sunday was a walkthrough and we do not have reports on that yet, but he is cheap. Also returns punts.
  10. Travis Fulgham: If this was going to be all Wentz all the time, I would have him above Metcalf on both sites for the price discount.

Week 12 Monday Night Football Secondary NFL DFS Picks

  1. Jason Myers/Jake Elliott: This is the lowest I can remember having the kickers in the four seasons I have been doing this article series. Philadelphia (1.4) and Seattle (1.2) are in the bottom five of the league for attempted field goals.
  2. Jalen Hurts: Do you feel lucky? Say goodbye to your entry fees but hope for lightening in a bottle in 2020.
  3. Seattle D/ST: Philadelphia allows the most sacks and third-most turnovers.
  4. Philadelphia D/ST: Get a nice discount and we can lose a maximum of 4 points on DraftKings. Seattle has allowed multiple sacks in every game this year.
  5. Carlos Hyde: Should see about a third of the workload. I would not fight anyone who wanted to move him to the top of this section.

Week 12 Monday Night Football Lottery Tickets NFL DFS Picks

  1. Will Dissly/Jacob Hollister: More of a DraftKings play, there should be a positive move for more tight end touchdowns based on Wilson’s extended history. Dissly is the preferred option, but the savings with Hollister are big on DraftKings.
  2. Boston Scott: Somehow sneaks in with production, even on limited touches.
  3. Richard Rodgers: Touchdown hunting, but there are worse options (aka see below).
  4. DeeJay Dallas: Deserves his own line. Seattle may go with just three active running backs.
  5. John Hightower: Pretty much needs an in-game injury to befall a teammate for offensive opportunities to materialize.
  6. Freddie Swain: DraftKings minimum but did not practice Friday or Saturday with a non-injury related issue.
  7. Nick Bellore: The veteran fullback has played the last two years for Seattle with four total touches in 24 games.
  8. Bo Scarbrough, Corey Clement, Alex Collins: Time to go buy an actual lottery ticket.
