NFL Week 11 NFL Survivor Pool Picks + Strategy | Chargers or Vikings?

Week 11 is here, which means we are almost to the Thanksgiving slate of the NFL season. That is usually a great checkmark for teams looking to make that final playoff push or others keeping an eye on where they will fall in the draft. For NFL Survivor pools, it’s also where things really start to tighten up, as we will have 10-plus teams unavailable, which makes surviving that much tougher.

What is a Survivor Pool?

There are several variations of the Survivor Pool format, but the most basic and common one is each week everyone in the pool has to select one team to win a game straight up, not against the spread. If the team wins, you survive the week and move on, and if the team you pick ties or loses, you are eliminated from the pool. The twist is that you can only use any team once, so anyone you pick is no longer available for weeks in the future, making it increasingly difficult as the season goes on. The pool ends when there is one player left, and usually that player will take home a big pay day depending on the pool and the structure.

Week 10 NFL Survivor Picks Recap

Packers

The Packers were 52% owned last week as 14-point favorites and nearly ended pools across the country. They were unable to separate from Jacksonville and it took a late defensive stand to avoid what would have been the biggest upset of the NFL Season. They ultimately got the job done and moved on a ton of people to Week 11 despite the uncomfortable sweat. Picking on Jacksonville has been a popular strategy, but they’ve shown some decent fight the last two weeks.

Saints

If you didn’t go to Green Bay, then chances are you were backing New Orleans as a 10-point home favorite against the 49ers. Almost 28% of people went here, and although they started slow, they won 27-13 in pretty uneventful fashion. They did lose Drew Brees to a rib injury, so it may be a good thing if you already used them and don’t have to deal with a possibly Jameis Winstonled Saints team going forward.

Raiders

Only 7% of teams went to Las Vegas, but if you did, it was a smooth ride in Week 10. The Raiders dismantled the Broncos 37-12 and you gave yourself a chance with the Packers game being so close, which is the formula for success in survivor. Unfortunately you weren’t paid off, as all the teams found wins, but it was still a successful use of a Raiders squad.

Week 11 NFL Survivor Pool Picks

Chargers

A home matchup against the Jets is going to attract some attention. Every week the Jets’ opponent is popular, and that is going to be the case here. Los Angeles sits as a 9-point home favorite, and despite being 2-7, they’ve shown some level of competitiveness throughout the season. The Jets almost won their last game in Week 9 against the Patriots and are coming off a bye, so it’s not the best spot to be fading them. Still, if you have the Chargers available, this is the obvious spot to burn them against the worst team in the league.

Wanna bet?

Ben Rasa is looking at the Los Angeles Chargers as one of his favorite Week 11 NFL survivor picks. The Chargers are 8.5-point favorites against the New York Jets. So, while you only need the Chargers to win outright, you might want to make a bet on the spread as well. Please enjoy our new FREE website that shows you what each sports betting odds are in real time. Vikings

At the beginning of the year, it was more likely this game would be for playoff seeding rather than NFL Draft order, but it’s been a down year for both teams. Dallas was crippled by injuries, and even with Andy Dalton set to return, it is going to be a tough task for them on the road. The Vikings actually are playing quality football and come in winners of three straight. They are 7.5-point home favorites and look to be peaking for a stretch run to get back in the mix. Using them while they are still alive and playing their best football of the season seems like the move, and this spot could be one of the most popular this week.

Steelers

Eventually someone is going to knock off the undefeated Steelers, but it’s hard to believe it will be the one-win Jaguars. Vegas doesn’t think so, as they are a 10-point road favorite and look to get to 10-0 before a Thanksgiving showdown with Baltimore. The Jaguars passing defense is towards the bottom in every metric, and the Steelers are coming off another dominant performance through the air again in Week 10. A lot of people used the Steelers a few weeks ago against Dallas, and that could make them lower owned than the matchup would suggest.

My Week 11 NFL Survivor Pool Pick: Vikings

Teams I’ve already used: Colts (L), Buccaneers (W), Eagles (T), Rams (W), Cowboys (W), Dolphins (W), Chargers (W), Chiefs (W), Steelers (W), Packers (W)

This is where survivor pools get difficult, as a lot of times your decision is made for you. I already used both the Chargers and Steelers, so my options for the heavy favorites were limited. Minnesota is coming off a Monday night win against the Bears, which was a game they had to have if they want a shot at a wild card spot. Dalvin Cook is handling 30-plus touches a game, and if that volume continues here, it will be a long day for this Dallas defense. I am a little nervous with the Cowboys getting Dalton back, but it still is the best spot available for me to attack.
