NFL Yahoo Cup Fantasy Football Picks | Round 13
NFL DFS Quarterback: Matthew Stafford — $32
Yahoo was aggressive with their quarterback salaries this week, leading to there being no players in Awesemo’s Rankings with an A grade in value and above a C in raw points in Week 13. Fortunately, thanks to value at other spots, gamers can afford to go after a big score at quarterback, where Matthew Stafford has an A in raw points.
Stafford and the Rams have played poorly as of late, but there is no better team to turn it around against than the Jaguars. Jacksonville is dead last in DVOA against the pass. The Rams also have the second-highest team total on the slate, behind only Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Brady costs an extra $10 in Yahoo salary and carries similar blowout risk, making Stafford the better value. The potential for a blowout might cap his upside slightly, but Stafford would have a hard time failing here. The Rams desperately need this win and should stay aggressive throughout the game. NFL DFS Running Back: Alexander Mattison — $18
Welcome to the most obvious play of Week 13. Dalvin Cook is out at least this week, so Mattison is stepping into the starting role for the Vikings. Other DFS providers placed Mattison’s salary near where Cook normally is, but not Yahoo. Mattison has the salary of a backup still despite him having arguably the best role and matchup on the slate.
Mattison topped 20 Yahoo points in two of his three weeks without Cook earlier in the year, including the first meeting between the Vikings and Lions. He averaged over 20 carries and five targets in those three games. That should go a long way against the Lions, horrible defense. They rank 30th in overall defense and dead last against the pass. The Vikings are expected to control this game easily, which is another good sign for Mattison. His 20-point games both came in Vikings wins, while his lone disappointment with Cook inactive came in a Vikings loss. Mattison is the only running back in Awesemo’s Rankings to have an A grade in both points and value.
NFL DFS Wide Receiver: Hunter Renfrow — $18
Renfrow stands out in a similar fashion to Mattison at the wide receiver position, where he too is the only player with an A in both categories of Awesemo’s Rankings. He is not quite as obvious as Mattison, but the idea is similar. Target hog Darren Waller is likely out of the lineup for the Raiders, meaning some of his targets will likely shift elsewhere.
While backup tight end Foster Moreau is the obvious beneficiary and a strong play on Yahoo, some of that will go to Renfrow as well. Moreau saw six targets in the previous game without Waller, while Renfrow saw eight. That is slightly above his seasonal average, and that was when the Raiders still had Henry Ruggs. The Raiders are slight favorites here, but the game should be close enough that they continue to pass deep into this game. Renfrow is a great value on Yahoo in Week 13.
